The property itself was amazing. Views for days. Some issues were the fact that due to illness ( sign at front desk) there was no physical staff. You had to text or call and wait for a reply. We needed fresh towels one day but could not reach anyone and had to go to Walmart in Boone and purchase towels. Would have been good to know whirlpool tub did not work ahead of time. Need a privacy sign on gate to property, because with barn right next door we had folks wandering onto property and looking in windows. Lastly only one roll of paper towels and 2 garbage bags for 4 people for 4 days- if no in person staff to help then supplies should be bulked up. I believe there has been a change in management and I just wanted to post all issues so that perhaps these things can be improved. The staff we did text with were great ( one even went back in for us when I we thought our son had left his wallet). Gorgeous location and goats/ horses were a welcome surprise!
The room was amazing; I stayed in Nell’s room. Grounds were beautiful even with how cold and dreary the weekend was! Lots of history here, very much enjoyed my stay.
We loved everything about this property. The experience was amazing. The staff were amazing as well. We will definitely be staying with them in the near future.
Sweet historic house in the heart of Valle Crucis, great communication and easy self check-in. Check website for "extras" like weekend food options and fun things across the street, enjoyed the pm music and nordic sauna! Great front porch with a view, lovely tubs in rooms, lots of personality! Definitely read details on room location if guests with mobility issues but lovely!
There was no hand soap or anything else in the bathroom. The place is lovely but don’t count on quiet. There are 3 floors and you hear every thing. Grant it ,it is an old house. Love the beds and the fact that they allow dogs.
The historic inn and outbuildings are beautifully restored. The setting is very nice. Our room was lovely. The bed was extremely comfortable. I loved the bedding!
Inn is on the National Historic Landmark list. Main house has wonderful character and charm. We had a room on the third floor with a small gas stove. They also have a restaurant and the food was outstanding. We expect to come back many times. Staff was friendly.
The room was very pretty and the historic aspect was great. Pillows and bed were very comfortable . Towels were less than desirable and the staff was not really very present. You pick up a key and drop it off without a smiling face.
It was okay. Quaint atmosphere, but Noisy Road next to Inn. Close to nearby attractions 7-10 miles. At this price and all the taxes loaded on it, it should have offered free breakfast. The First morning a continental breakfast was offered, but not the second day (as they were bringing in a chef to cook a full breakfast at a cost). Recommend local police put a crosswalk to go to the barn across the street and flashing warning lights around the bend to slow down speeders. Very dangerous especially for children.

Loved the location and area. Disappointed in responsiveness of staff, very disappointed in the bed/ horrible mattress (did not rest well) and limited ceiling height in the 3rd floor converted artic—in the Cherry room. Surprised by squeaky floors, road noise and surprised by noise level from nearby rooms. Our first stay there and we aren’t inclined to go back again.
This was a stay "back in time". Most importantly, it was clean and quiet. Our grandparents had homes like our room and we are now grandparents, so it was awhile ago. So, it was very nostalgic for us, but we felt unsafe in the bathroom. The shower curtains were in the bottom of the tub and would have been easy to trip up on. There was only one outlet for us to re-charge our electronics on. The lighting was very poor. We somewhat enjoyed our stay because of the nostalgic factor, but really missed the conveniences of today.

Disliked: Property conditions & facilities
I am very disappointed by the condition of the Loom Cabin where we spent two nights this week. Many items are in a state of disrepair and basic maintenance is sorely lacking. Here a few examples:
- we arrived to an empty Modelo beer bottle sitting on the bottom step of the outside stairs.
- speaking of the outside stairs, the wood is completely rotted in some places with one or two steps completely missing. As a faint hearted attempt at safety, there was a cord tied across the entrance to the stairs but nothing blocking a curious child from trying to climb the stairs from the front porch.
- As you step into the front porch, the first plank is also partially rotted and/ cracked and will probably fail soon. Hopefully no one is hurt.
Inside, the cabin is quaint and comfortable but we also found some items in disrepair: my bedside lamp was broken and needed a bulb, if you need to connect a charger or CPAP you have to get on all fours and search under the bed for a power strip. Actually 2 power strips connected serially to each other and then to an outlet behind the bed. Who knows if this is even up to code.
Downstairs, there's some thermostat thingy hanging off the wall with wiring exposed.
Having a small kitchen area with a sink, Keurig, and toaster oven was convenient. Of course it would have been nice to find more than just one fork, two spoons, one butter knife and one kitchen knife there. Given the cost of the stay, we were not impressed to say the least.

Mixed excellent with one major issue with our late check in. No lights on at cottage or on the property to get to cottage which was pitch dark and no clear direction to cottage except in email, a description. A safety concern, as well as several minutes of anxiety for all 4 party members. I finally found the cottage, without help or answer to my phone message to the emergency number provided, using the light on my cell phone. Parking was also unclear on arrival with a coned off area of sunken asphalt that my husband stepped in due to the poor lighting. Separately from this, delightful staff, very easy to work with on all details.
