Very nice getaway

Cute and cozy stay, the host Margo was on the property if we needed anything and she was very friendly and welcoming. It was quiet and private and just what we needed to recharge!

Really enjoyed the river nearby and the use of the owners kayaks. This location also made visiting the Redwoods and the quiet beaches easy day trips. We loved the less populated beaches in southern Oregon. Owners hospitality was awesome.

Cozy Cabin with River View

We spent a week relaxing and exploring the beautiful Southern Oregon Coast while staying at this cozy cabin. The host was very friendly and accommodating. This was a great home base as we visited so many nearby State and National Parks. The coastline is magnificent and the local recreation areas offer beautiful forests filled with Redwoods, lovely rivers, entrancing waterfalls. After our hikes, we could come back to the cabin and prepare good meals in the well-appointed kitchen. We loved the treehouse, too! It was a great vacation.

Best Spot On the Oregon Coast!!!!!!

This is our second year visiting and staying at this property! Last year we loved it so much, we kept extending our stay and this year we stayed a whole week and it still didn’t feel long enough! This property has it all-short walk to the Chetco, where you and the fam can take a dip and float and so can your furry friends! Fully equipped kitchen makes it easy to cook delicious meals! The hosts are family-so helpful and kind and make you feel so welcome! This truly is the perfect vacation spot and Valhalla at its finest! Conveniently located to both the river and beach and the store is nearby too. Will be back next year and don’t think, book this place now-it’s awesome!

Great stay!

We had a great time. My son stayed in the treehouse and kayaked everyday. It’s a cozy tucked in little place in peaceful location. There's two loving dogs on site that made our stay even more enjoyable. We plan to come again next year. The hostess was five stars all the way.

Lovely, peaceful location on Chetco River

This VRBO is a wonderful alternative to typical accommodations in Brookings. Private river access on the peaceful Chetco River. A sweet cottage with a full, well appointed kitchen. You can prepare your own meals or take a 10 minute drive into town to a variety of restaurants and ocean beaches. Dog friendly. Very comfortable accommodations. Hostess is delightful. Quiet location. We slept well.

Unique Getaway

Loved the entire setup. Treehouse for the kids, Comfy accommodations for the big kids. Murphy, the super friendly greeter dog, the horse, llama and the river access ticked all the right boxes. Margo, the host, was super accommodating. My daughter and I were lucky enough to be invited for a carriage ride with Zoe. We grilled steaks and ate them outside on a beautiful evening. Unforgettable experience. Will definitely be back.

Chetco Cottage

This cottage is located about 6 miles up the Chetco River. We had a nice quiet weekend and spent time with a good friend who lives in Brookings. With the January sunshine we were able to walk down the river path and sit on the river, throw a stick in the water for our dog. Watch driftboats float by and just relax and visit. Would like to come back in warmer weather.

Beautiful River Retreat

We had the best time in Brookings! The host was so friendly and so were her pups. Her land was absolutely beautiful and she thought of everything we could possibly need. It was like having a thoughtful neighbor. The house is so quaint with beautiful artistic touches that are all her own. The river is secluded, peaceful, and she provided both floats and kayaks. She also recommended the best spots in town to eat (and there are many). Five stars doesn't cover it.

A slice of Valhalla

Buddy and Margo were the list gracious, communicative, kind and wonderful hosts. We had the pleasure and fortune of extending our stay, because we loved it so much! The house is clean, has so many cooking utensils, making it easier to make your own meals, which we did, graciously using local salmon and cod from the harbor! The animals on the property are so welcoming and amazing-especially Murphy, who not only us, but our pups fell in love with! The property is pure magic, blending a rural atmosphere with the gorgeous river, and a short drive to the beach, with the most epic sea life! If you want to experience Valhalla, rent this place, as we plan to do year after year!

Paradise

What a wonderful place to call home for a week. Minutes from the most beautiful coast line, kayaking tours, scenic hiking trails, an hour to the largest trees on the planet. The host is amazing and lives next door. She truly acts like a host, but is never in the way. If you want privacy, you have it. She has the sweetest dog that my kids fell in love with. We really enjoyed the river each evening after a day of activity. Peaceful, beautiful, perfect.

Cozy Place with beautiful River

Great place to stay the hosts were on site. We made friends with them and their dog Murphy. Easy Check in and check out. They were very kind in taking us to the top of the river so we could kayak down. They never bothered us even though they were in close proximity. They gave us some tips on places to go and explore. It is a quiet location we never saw anyone else on the river. The river has a nice swimming hole that is about 100 yards away. Smaller kids could play there as well as older kids.

The host was very accommodating. The living quarters were very close in proximity however, we did not feel like the host infringed on us at all. They even offered to drive us up the river so we can kayak down. We loved the swimming hole The host was very accommodating. Peaceful Retreat

This retreat is located on the Chetco river nestled in the forest and the view is quite spectacular. It is shared with the owners nearby, whom we didn’t see much of, but when we did, our exchange was pleasant. The llama was hilarious, curious, and shy. The dog was older, but friendly. We didn’t see much of the horse. The retreat has everything you need, but beware there are not laundry facilities on-site. Also, the bathroom could be a challenge for some, as the toilet is a bit low. The walk to the river is not too far, but could be tricky for some, as it is down a switchback with some pavers and rocks as steps. Overall, it was a perfect getaway.

Pros: The location was fine, we were out of the fog. Murphy is everything the posts say he is! We enjoyed the quiet and visiting with the Margo about her animals.Cons: The place was not clean. The refrigerator shelves were visibly dirty, they were sticky. I wiped the frig out, thinking that it just got overlooked. In the bathroom there were floaters in the toilet, the toilet seat had smudges and hair on it. The bathroom mirror had toothpaste splatter and the faucet handles had white smudges on them. The floor through out the house was dirty! When we asked Margo to come look she was immediately defensive and said we could go elsewhere. (I was disappointed in her response because as everyone knows it takes time and effort to locate and secure a place for vacation. We had also brought our food because we enjoy cooking and just relaxing). She offered to clean it while we went to dinner (dinner cost us around 80.00). The bathroom mirror still had splatter and the faucets looked the same when we returned. The view from the living room is the driveway. The French door is off the bedroom and there were no comfortable outdoor chairs to sit and relax in the small area (thank goodness we brought our camping chairs).

We loved it!

The property is lovely! It's so peacefull and calm. It's a little bit of a drive from town. Most days we set out in the morning for our day of adventures, stayed in town for dinner, and then came up the hill for the night. To go up and down the hill more than once per day is certainly possible, but you might find it a bit arduous. The drive doesn't really take that long, but it's a steep and windy road which you will not want to race up and down. The hosts live right on the property in close proximity to the rental unit. That being said, they were not at all intrusive. Margo was very friendly and helpful, and I never laid eyes on the man. We were there for 5 days/nights. It's a bit of a steep walk getting down to the river, but it's not far. It's so calm and peaceful down there that it's worth the treck even for just a few minutes. Best places to eat in town: Black Trumpet Bistro, Compass Rose Cafe, and Fat Irish - the clam chowder is to die for, and I'm from New England! Also don't miss getting ice cream at Slugs & Stones. I would reccommend this property!

Nice place close to the river and golf course

I booked this place wanting a spot close to the river and golf course. It provided both as expected. We spent two days enjoying the private river access with floats and kayaks provided. Out dog loved fetching sticks out of the river. My sister who has some mobility issues found the uneven terrain on the trail to the river a bit challenging. It is also a heart pounder getting back up. (whew).The space was nice and everything we needed was available. We used the kitchen and BBQ every night. We ended up not using the treehouse because of my sisters mobility issues with the stairs. It is a lovely option though. I loved the location just enough east of Brookings to get the warmer and sunnier weather than directly on the coast. I got a slight sunburn from spending time on the river. There are two dogs on the property. Murphy is the more social dog and he will greet you every chance he can. You must appreciate and like dogs if you choose to stay here as they comes with the package. The property is very close to the main house where the host lives. She is responsive to needs or requests although not intrusive. We asked for decaf coffee one evening and she picked some of for us to have the next day. Overall the property was absolutely beautiful and peaceful. We felt very safe staying there as we were three ladies and a dog. Exactly what we needed for a three night get-away.

Secluded River

We loved this place for its secluded beach on the Chetco River, kayaks and short drive to a day on the ocean beach. Best of both worlds! Cottage was neat and clean. A good place to hang out, fix dinner and watch movies at the end of the day. Owner was very friendly and helpful. Loved the horses.

Great place to stay for a trip along the 101

Beautiful location. We enjoyed hiking along the coast during the day and walking along river from the property in the evening. The host was very welcoming and made the stay easy. Our teenager enjoyed sleeping in the tree house.
