Very close to the Corcovado National Park, you can walk there. Everyday we would go on a hike, as soon as you walk out of the hotel you start seeing monkeys and all sorts of wildlife. Heck, you don't even need to leave the hotel. We had a group of scarlet macaws constantly hanging out in a tree right outside our room. And a brave little monkey paid a visit one day as well. The food prepared by Chef Coco was amazing! It was truly an astonishing, incredible and unforgettable experience. We intended to go on a guided tour into the national park via the sirena ranger station before we arrived, but there was no need as all the wildlife you could ever hope for was right there on your doorstep. We saw 3 out of the 4 species of monkey native to Costa Rica including the Capuchin, Howler and spider monkey, we saw pelicans flying along the beach, Macaw Parrots, Pigs, Coati, Agouti and numerous birds and insects. Joel the host and owner is amazing, he couldn't help us enough and even treated us to a personal guided walk through the rainforest in a secret location very close by. We never return to the same location as there is alot of the world we have on our travel list, but this is the first time that we are considering going back. If you like being as close to nature as possible while having your creature comforts this is the place for you. There are no walls to the treehouse which means you are always at one with nature, it is truly magical. A wonderful place to stay for my 40th birthday. A word of warning, you must hire a 4x4 vehicle with a good amount of clearance. Our vehicle was a Mitsubishi ASX which was JUST high enough. It was good fun getting there but would of been even more enjoyable if we got a better off roader. Stock up at supermarket at Puerto Jimenez and fuel up before you leave. Thank you again Joel.
