8/10 Good

The room was great, the bed better than my bed at home, the view unbeatable; head on to the sphinx with the pyramids in a line. The hotel itself is on the top two floors (13 and 14) in a building in a slum. (It has a lift). We assume we were the first customers through Expedia because we arrived unexpectedly in the middle of the night and the hotel didn't know how to access their payment from Expedia. The hotel believe they need to book all excursions and taxi travel, Expedia might disagree? safety is an issue, but I suspect commissions are involved also. There's nothing to do in the hotel area so either bring a good book and your duty free or expect to pay perhaps £150 a day on excursions (they were very good) but this does pump up the cost of the holiday. If you expect a hotel with a pool, look elsewhere, you'll be a guest of a small family business. A great holiday but far more costly than I expected, but no point in travelling so far and not doing things.
