Had a lovely few days at Rosedene! Staff were all so kind and helful! Lungi was so very helpful in organizing our pickup and transportation from the airport, and also booking tours for us while in Cape Town. Arthur was there to greet us on our arrival, and each evening when we returned. Chef Ian and his staff in the kitchen had a wonderful breakfast for us each morning. Would definitely stay here again!
För 3e gången checkade vi in på Rosadene Guest House. Alltid oklanderlig service och varmt välkomnande. Gästvänlig ledning och personal på högsta nivå. Lugnt läge trots närhet till restauranger och butiker.
Tolles Guesthaus in Superlage in Gardens. Viele Restaurants auch Abends gut zu Fuß zu erreichen. Nettes Team, dass bei allem gerne hilft. Abends nach einem Ausflugstag ein Glas Wein auf der Terrasse mit Blick auf Kapstadt - toll.

Charming little hotel close to table mountain ,
A lot of cute restaurants around
Es ist ein ruhiges sehr sauberes Haus in bester Lage. Das Personal ist stets um einen bemüht. Sicherheit der Gäste steht ganz oben. Wir können dieses Haus nur weiterempfehlen.
We arrived at the hotel and checked in to be given the room beside the reception area and breakfast tables. We thought ok this is what we had booked so our fault. How bad can it be really. The room was cramped, bathroom door hit the toilet on opening and we could hear everything as the breakfast tables were about 2 metres from the door. We questioned the room after the first night and were told this was what we booked. Upon contacting hotels.com we got to the bottom of it and Rosedene had in fact downgraded us to the basic room from the deluxe we paid for as there were no others left. We booked February last year and did specify it was our honeymoon and we wanted an upper floor room. We got the opposite. After the second night we had enough and eventually the hotel manager moved us to another hotel. What a hassle for the start of our honeymoon. We felt like we were just a number to them. Beware of the downstairs room. It is terrible and don’t be missold like us. Don’t be sold by the free glass of wine gimmick. Would not recommend.
Nice accommodations for an other building. Clean rooms, nice breakfast, and complimentary wine during happy hour.

Did we get put into the right room?
The Rosedene is a nice guest house in a pleasant and beautiful location close to Table Mountain. We would have been very pleased except we were placed into the wrong room. Our room was on the ground floor, very noisy, and not very private. The noise was reasonable but the old Manor Style building and beautiful floors echo through the downstairs. I'm sure we would have been much more comfortable in one of the many Deluxe En Suite rooms on the second floor as per our reservation through Expedia. The staff is friendly and the breakfast is great. I am disappointed that the management didn't notice the discrepancy between Standard ground floor room and Deluxe En Suite and clarify the mix up with Expedia or make an effort to move us to a more comfortable room. We asked to be moved and the request was not relayed to the management. We were told those were more expensive when in fact they were the exact price and room we booked. We also noticed that the Rosedene Web site has the exact same ground floor room we were given listed at two different prices. An employee told us it was the only room on the first floor room and is called their Standard Room. That being said we would stay with them again but be very clear that we get the room we book. I hope Expedia and Rosedene can communicate to assure correct booking.

Disappointed
For the ratings this place had, my spouse and I thought it was going to be a lovely stay. However, the cleaning service was constantly in our room. Literally, in and out throughout the day. This was intrusive and very invading on our privacy. They do not have do not disturb signs either, but we ended up going to reception to request that no one come into our room for cleaning. They respected that.
Overall, I would consider this to be average. The grounds were pretty and the décor was nice, but I enjoy privacy and personal space most. Breakfast was alright, but sometimes it seemed as though guest were avoided for hot breakfast orders in order for them to fill up on the simple cold breakfast. However, again, it still was fine.
I recommend staying in this part of Cape Town, but I would stay at another hotel next time.
Served a sumptuous breakfast. Beautiful airy surroundings. Small number of guests but treated as family. Big plus was the dedicated wi-fi that was not restricted like the big hotels in the city Centre. About 20 min walk into town (downhill) but coming back can be good exercise. Close up views of Table Mountain right outside your window. Lovely garden attached. Would definitely return.
We stayed for about 1 week. The rooms are nice and have lot of character. We found the beds to be comfortable, the garden charming and the neighborhood in the shadow of table mountain quite charming. The service was pretty good and well intentioned, but flawed. For example, while the included breakkfast was good, they often got our orders wrong or the staff would be absent for 10 minutes right when you want a cup of coffee. Also we were irritated that our rooms were not tidied if we said we didn't need new towels or linens....they could still sweep and make up the beds etc--which they normally do if you tell them you don't need new towels...
Lovely welcome, very helpful and accomodation, scrumy breakfast, loved the omelettes. Didn't get to use the pool as very windy on second day, but looked good to chill in. would not hesitate to stay here again.

Reasonable Guest House
The Staff reception and warmth was relatively ok, but I believe there is still some room for improvement to make clients feel very comfortable on first contact. The guest house is in a very good and quiet surrounding, however, the rooms/cabins adjacent to the road, and without a wall fence or electric fencing do not bring a comfortable assurance of safety. Due to the high winds in Cape Town, some work needs to be done on the doors/windows to make sure there is no banging sound during the night, which makes one feel uncomfortable and less safe.

noise issue
I guess there is no insulation between the vintage hardwood floor of the 3rd floor and the ceiling of the second floor. During our stay with Rosedene, we were forced to wake up early (around 5:30 or 6 am?) because someone staying in the room above us was stomping around.
We probably won't stay in any guest house with similar conditions as we would like to sleep in during our vacation.

Could be better
Unfortunately they had a night manager on service who was very unhelpful and quite discourteous (which detracts from the day staff who are the opposite). The wifi wasn't working (and the night manager couldn't help). There were loud banging noises which kept me up and woke me up very early so I had a terrible night sleep. The day manager and the owner at least apologized the next day and took the time to hear the issues. Hopefully they will sort the above out so that guests who stay at their B&B/ in that room can have an enjoyable stay. They did offer to discount my stay, but as I had booked through hotels.com they couldn't facilitate this. This is a suggestion to hotels.com to work on allowing this feature given these instances happen.
