After you've covered all the fabulous places in Rio Abajo, there's loads more to explore in the surrounding area. Collect the keys to a rental car, stow your bags in the trunk and get out there. We've come up with some road trips we think you'll love:

• Colon is roughly 35 miles from Rio Abajo. Well-known tourist attractions like Gatun Locks deserve a place on your must-see list here.
