We stayed at the Spruce cabin and it was lovely. I wasn't sure what was all included at the cabin as far as amenities. We usually stay at State park cabins, so were pleasantly surprised to find so many things included. For example, dishes, silverware, towels, sheets, pillows......even soap, papertowels, toilet paper and aluminum foil! The beds were comfy and all the appliances worked fine. The campground was quiet. We walked around a lot and it was interesting to see some remnants of when it was a Boy Scout camp from 1920-1974. Like the old stone bridge behind the Laurel Lodge (which I hope they fix up someday-it looks neat!) and some other old stone structures. The pool looks like it would be nice in the summer. We would definitely consider staying here again!
This is a great option for a couple of nights in a beautiful forest setting. The cabin was very small, containing only the bare essentials for 1–2 people. I’d say it’s comfortable for one person, but a bit cramped for two—and we are both slim, so space was tight even for us. Also, the cabin has bunk beds, and the top bunk creaks terribly. I slept on the top bunk and my husband on the bottom; neither of us could sleep well because the bed would creak whenever one of us tried to turn over, waking us both up. That is definitely something that needs fixing; it’s a DIY bed with a poor design. Otherwise, I really liked the cabin and the management. It was incredibly clean—which is the most important thing for me. The bedding, towels, dishes, and cutlery were all spotless. I didn't see air conditioning (though there is a ceiling fan), so I’m not sure how comfortable it would be in the summer, but during cooler weather, there is a heater that keeps the place warm, plus hot water and a toilet. There is a golf course and a swimming pool, and the surrounding nature is beautiful. Overall, I liked the cabin; aside from the creaky bed, everything was wonderful. The staff were friendly and did everything to ensure my comfort. Thank you very much!
