Wonderful Holiday Getaway

We had a fabulous time staying at Once Upon a Deer. Danette was very responsive and accommodating. The cabin was clean, cozy and a quick drive into Ellijay. We very much enjoyed the deer that would come right up to the property. Danette had the cabin decorated for Christmas which made us feel like we were right at home. Would definitely stay here again.

Gorgeous and perfect stay

Beautiful property that is fully stocked and ready for a family vacation. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Comfortable furniture, plenty of space, full kitchen amenities, laundry, hot tub, outdoor fire pit, games galore. The deer are frequent visitors.

Peaceful

From day one speaking with Danette, the trip was good. Danette was so kind and quick to get back with us when we had a question. She is a wonderful host. Everything was so clean . The inside was decorated so pretty. You had everything you needed in the kitchen. The beds was so very comfortable, plenty of towels. The front porch was wonderful so nice and peaceful. The deer came to visit every day. It is a great place to take your children they had different things for them to play with . A great firepit area to set around. Thank you for a great place to get away ,close to places to eat and Walmart. I would give Danette and her home a 5 plus

Best mountain cabin ever

Beautiful gated mountain community with lots of surrounding wooded area. Feels safe and private. Cabin is ideal for those with mobility issues. From the covered parking area, you can access the back door with no steps involved. The cabin had everything needed for a weeks stay. The downstairs bedroom not only had a jacuzzi tub, but also a walk in shower. The front porch was a favorite during our stay. Comfortable rockers, chairs, and a porch swing. A great place to view the resident deer. Ellijay has many attractions. The downtown has some cute boutique stores and restaurants. Several are dog friendly if you like to have your pooch with you for lunch. Best mountain retreat we have found. We’ll be back .

Great cabin and area

This is a great cabin for vacation. The owner is very responsive to your needs. You even get access to the resort's amenities which include a number of pools, pickleball courts, and weight room.

Perfect home in Coosawattee river resort, Ellijay GA

Wonderful clean and updat home in the hills with daily visits of deer. We loved the nearby parks, fly fishing streams, lakes, indoor pool, pickle ball courts, putt-putt golf and beautiful wineries!! The owner was very responsive and helpful with any questions we had. We would stay at this property again next time we need to stay in Ellijay for a Month!! So much fun and things to do!

Perfect Couples Getaway

This cabin was just perfect for us! Beautifully decorated, well equipped kitchen, comfortable beds, great front porch to sit and drink coffee while the deer went by and perfect location for what we wanted to do. Having a fenced in back yard for our Sam was such a plus! The host was so friendly and helpful with quick responses to our questions. We will definitely be back!

New Year’s Trip

I give this little piece of heaven a 100. Communication with the host was very easy & professional. The cabin is beautiful & peaceful. We loved getting to see deer every day & enjoyed feeding them. We will definitely be staying here again on our next trip to the Mtns.

Even Better!

We had such a wonderful stay at Once Upon a Deer! The cabin and the property were perfect for an autumn visit because of the proximity to apple orchards, vineyards and other beautiful places to see. It was also wonderful because of the fire pit (with all accessories needed to start the fire and roast marshmallows), the outside seating and the DEER. So many beautiful deer on the property every single day!! The kitchen was well-equipped with all kinds of small appliances and gadgets; basic staples like sugar, teabags, flour, etc; and even an ice dispenser on the ‘fridge. Our host was fantastic at communication and truly went the second mile to make us feel welcome, including, remembering it was our daughter’s birthday and providing very special items to help us celebrate! There were things available on site that we didn’t take advantage of like a hot tub, washer/dryer, and amenities offered by the complex. I highly recommend this lovely cabin and its host! Someday, I hope to return!!

Great location and home

We enjoyed our week-long stay at this home! Everything was very clean, and we appreciated all of the little touches, like toiletries, dishwashing soap, sponges, coffee etc. The fenced backyard and front porch were perfect since we had our dog with us. The property was quiet and comfortable, and the deer plentiful!

Family trip

Great cabin! Very clean and in a great location. We made great family memories just sitting on the porch drinking coffee and playing cornhole in the backyard. Close to Ellijay, tubing, and Blue Ridge. The deer are wonderful! Rent this cabin...you will not be disappointed!!

Fantastic cabin in the woods

This was our first time traveling with our dog and I was a little apprehensive about staying at a "pet friendly" property. All my fears of sitting in dog hair and having gross floors dissappeared within 5 minutes of walking through the door. This place is unbelievably clean and well stocked. It's actually cleaner than any rental I have ever stayed at. They have put a lot of love into making the property as comfortable as possible and it shows. I was also concerned that maybe the front porch would be unusable since it wasn't screened in but we had zero issues with bugs and it was so well furnished and spacious. We saw deer every morning and the kids made a game of guessing how many we would see on our daily drives in and out of the resort. Our only disappointment would be that the resort doesn't actually have tubing anymore. You can bring your own tubes but if you don't have 2 cars its pretty much impossible. We drove around for about an hour through the resort trying to find the tubing with the map until we finally discovered it had never returned after covid. The riverside pool also used to have a building selling snacks and with games and stuff like a clubhouse inside but that was closed down as well. We ended up tubing at Cartecay Adventures (do the adventure float not the lazy river float) and the kids loved it. Overall it was a convenient location and perfect cabin with a lot of love put into it.

Great Cabin

Awesome cabin. Very clean. Well-stocked. Super fast response from owner with questions. So many deer!!! When they say daily deer visits it is not a joke. Morning coffee with deer visitors every day. Paved roads and driveway very easy to navigate. Highly recommend!

Great cottage

This is a great cottage. It has a great fenced in back yard, eventhough the deer disregard the enclosure! We did not use the hot tub, firepit, and resort amenities since it was summertime but would be great during the fall and definitely winter. Kitchen is well stocked with appliances, dinnerware, knives, etc. Would love to come back in the fall.

Amazing

Where do I start! This is an amazing cabin. You add the beauty of the outside environment and we were in wonderland. The cabin was beautifully done both inside and out. Everything was clean and welcoming. The deer around the property were amazing. They were there every morning and every night. They even joined us for a campfire and smores! What a wonderful experience for our 12 yr old grandson to be that close to a deer. I could go on and on about this beautiful experience. Beyond the actual cabin there are plenty of activities close by. We did use one of the pools in the resort. It was very nice. They limited the number of people there which was very nice. You could enjoy with your family without being packed in. The only suggestion I have is maybe a stool for those of us who are on the shorter side. The cabinets and washer can be a challenge when you're only 5 ft tall. I won't let this stop us from returning. Thank you so much Danette and Katrina for sharing this beautifully quaint cabin with us. We created some wonderful memories. We will be returning again to enjoy coffee on the front porch with the deer. Barb
