Spend long, lazy summer days enjoying freshwater swimming, lakeside ice creams and night-time beach parties along this popular stretch of Lake Balaton.
Relax under the hot summer sun, swim in a freshwater lake and have a go at watersports at Golden Shore, known locally as Aranypart. This popular stretch of the Lake Balaton coastline is part of Siófok, the liveliest and largest resort on the lake.
The Golden Shore extends for approximately 2.5 miles (4 kilometers) at the southern end of the lake, an area characterized by shallow water. This makes it popular with families with young children. Head to the shore’s free beaches and sunbathe on the grassy or sandy areas. Sit up and enjoy the gorgeous views of the lake.
Cool off in the waters and let the children play at the water park, which features inflatable slides. If you’re feeling adventurous, get out on the lake on a windsurfing board. For some gentler aquatic fun, rent a paddle boat. Chill out in a beachside bar.
A pleasant way to enjoy the shore’s scenery is with a stroll along shaded paths. Walk a little farther and you will come to the restaurants and bars of Petőfi Promenade. At night, this long strip is where Siófok comes to party in its disco bars and nightclubs.
If the weather turns cooler or you have done enough beach for the day, visit Siófok and explore its many attractions. Enjoy scenic views of the town from the observation platform of the 147.6-feet (45-meter) water tower. Save some time to go shopping for souvenirs. Walk through the expansive grounds of Millennium Park and soothe your body in the warm waters of the Galerius Thermal Spa and Wellness Center. Other attractions include many public works of art.
The Golden Shore is within easy walking or cycling distance from the center of Siófok. If you prefer to drive, find metered parking in nearby streets. You can also get to the beaches here by bus.
