Affords easy public access to a variety of state and national recreation sites including Linville River Boat Ramp (9 miles), Lake James State Park (13 miles), Brown Mountain OHV (11 miles), the Wilson Creek Wilderness (13 miles), and the Linville River Gorge and the mountains of the Jonas RIdge (20 miles to the Table Rock parking lot). The house itself was the loving home of Buddy and Dot Harris where they lived, raised their children, and hosted their friends, grandchildren , and great grand children for 58 years. The home has been recently renovated to keep the original charm of Buddy and Dot’s home while also offering the comfort and functionality of a vacation rental. And, if you come at the right time, fresh garden vegetables may be available for those who complement Buddy’s garden.

Amenities include a full kitchen with gas range and oven, fridge/freezer, microwave, dishwasher, pots, pans, dishes, and utensils. Bedding and towels for the house are provided; swimming towels not provided. Beds include one double (Bedroom 1), one single (Bedroom 2), and four bunks (Bedroom 3).

Great place to stay
Very comfortable, well cared for and well equipped home, even if the layout is a bit strange. We loved sitting on the front porch watching the world go by. The host was most friendly and helpful. It is a convenient place to stay when visiting Lake James and we will happily stay here again.

Overnight Stay
Quaint house. Very Clean. Four bunk beds, double bed, and twin bed. Slept 7 of us easily. Lots of counter space in the kitchen. WiFi. Lots of towels. Convenient location to town. It listed a hot tub in the listing but there wasn’t one. I think that was an accident.

This property was cozy and had old country living feel to it. We had 4 adults and so slept comfortably. The host was very accommodating with our parking needs. Will definitely stay here again if we are back in the area.

Cozy & Well-Appointed Cottage with Breathtaking Mountain Views
This is a cozy home with amazing views of the mountains - you can see the sunrise over the mountains on one side of the home and the sunset over the mountains on the other side. The home is 10 mins from downtown Morganton, and very close to some great hiking. The kitchen is well-appointed and beds comfy. The property manager was very nice and accommodating. We continued to extend our stay as we enjoyed staying here.
