This is the second time we’ve stayed at Ratterman Ranch and it just gets better each time. Absolutely beautiful home and property. We had such a wonderful time floating the Buffalo and just spending time on this gorgeous property. Trudy is fantastic and always promptly replies.
We plan to visit again this fall for a hike. Truly an amazing property.
We had a family of 9 including kids and grandparents. Ratterman Ranch could not have been a better base camp for our Ozark weekend! The home is clean and well appointed and the grounds are spectacular. We will return!
I just can’t say enough amazing things about this property!! Absolutely breathtaking property and wonderful, extremely helpful hosts. Probably one of our best family get always ever. I literally could have stayed on the property the entire time, but we loved getting out to float the Buffalo River and hike. Completely stocked kitchen and linens, comfortable beds and they even provided toiletries/ plenty of towels.
Fresh baked brownies when you arrive. We are already planning a trip next year! Thank you Trudy for being so helpful and attentive.
Truly an amazing home!
This may have been our favorite vacation yet! The views from the property were incredible. The home and property were magnificent, pictures don’t do justice. Our daughters loved catching fish in the ponds! We will definitely be back!
We had a great stay! The only thing we wish were different is if the main room had recliners or more comfortable seating to watch football. Other than that, the place was perfect for us and we have already booked again for next year!
We had a group of 18, only 2 folks were under age 19 and everyone praised the property for its cleanliness, it's outstanding view and the comfort of their bed rest. We all would recommend this property for a repeat stay. Lloyd Davis Jr
This pristine home and property was a great weekend stay for our family of 6. We were greeted with a warm welcome by Jay, a pan of still-warm brownies, and a perfectly comfortable and freshly-cleaned home. A newly-hung swing was a treat for the little ones, as was a catch and release pond. The beautiful hilltop location allowed for viewing a rainstorm, a sunrise, stars and a bit of fog. We enjoyed the large, well-equipped kitchen and spent lots of time on the porch together. We found the owners and each employee we encountered to be kind and welcoming. We had a really great weekend. Thanks so much!
We had an amazing time staying here for 3 nights. We floated the Buffalo River and plan on coming back to hike. Property has every detail thought of for you and is beyond stocked. Great owners! Thank you so much! Will be back!
The house was beautifully decorated and was stocked with everything that we would need.. even Brownies!! The property had several places to explore from a fish pond to climbing cliffs to hiking.. let’s not forget the corn hole and hot tub😁 Thank you to a much needed family get together.. my husband had just passed away this past September unexpectedly and this was a tradition he started a year ago.. we would definitely stay again.. Thanks for the memories ❤️
This property listing is definitely accurate. We have stayed at other properties owned by this owner. You definitely can expect cleanliness, hospitality at its finest and a great experience. This property provides Mountain top views , sunrise, sunsets, and the cows grazing on the next mountain over is by far the best!!! Every room as well as the hot tub has a view. The trail around the property was a fun adventure too! You will not be disappointed in renting this property.
Our family with children ranging from ages 3 to 19 absolutely loved the property! Everyone was taken a back from the stunning 360 degree views. There was room to roam, explore, see the daily deer, and other wildlife, catch sunfish and the massive blue catfish in the pond and roast s'mores in the firepit every night. The sunrises, the sunsets, the fog throughout the hills and valleys was breathtaking. While you are remote, you are central to explore everything in the river valley area.
We loved our stay at Ratterman Ranch. Nice little touches like fresh baked brownies, delicious chocolates on our pillows, and complimentary waters and snacks were a wonderful surprise. The location of this home is close to all the surrounding areas we visited, Jasper, Pruitt and Ponca. Was wonderful to come back to such a comfortable place after days of hiking and exploring and of course, floating the Buffalo River. All of the beds were super comfy, lots of pretty throw blankets for napping and just the overall decor of the home was so inviting. Definitely a 5-star experience for us!
This property did not disappoint! The home was beautifully furnished and extremely clean. The owners have a great swing for kids and a room filled with board games for the entire family. However, the best part was the setting. You have your own hilltop surrounded by beautiful mountains. We could not have been more pleased.
My husband and I rented the house for a week-long stay in May. The house is immaculate, the beds are super-comfy, the kitchen is well-equipped for cooking, and the outside BBQ on the deck was great. We spent most of our time outside on the large deck with a dining table (I don't think we ate one meal inside), playing Bocci ball in the yard, and lots of time in the hot tub, which was especially rewarding during a storm. The seclusion of the house among the trees with the hot tub tucked behind a privacy-screening shrub is what makes this location truly special. Our main reason for renting the home was the location, nestled in nature but not too far from hiking trails, kayaking on the Buffalo River, and of course - the hot tub. The views are amazing, and Ben and Brandi were quick to respond throughout our stay. Highly recommend staying here!
This was our first foray into travel since the pandemic started a year ago. We were pretty nervous, but Brandi and the owners worked with us and answered our questions with endless patience. When we arrived, the house was incredibly clean. The pictures don't do it justice - there are two outdoor eating areas that aren't pictured and an amazing tree swing that my kids loved. We brought our own poles but the wrong lures (the fish looked like bluegills but we had planned for bass), so we didn't catch anything, but the kids still had fun.
Pros:
- super clean, well-stocked, everything has been thought of. We have been in rentals where they provide a roll of toilet paper and no back-ups - this is not the case here. It really is well-stocked. The bed linens, towels, pillows, and blankets are also all in abundance.
- views! we enjoyed every sunrise and sunset and all the time in-between
- location - easy access to lots of great trails that were kid-friendly - most drives are under an hour
- hot tub, swing, outdoor areas. There is a fire pit that was pre-stocked with branches, so we did smores (the house even has marshmallow holders, which we found after)
- big enough for our family of 5 to spread out but still feel connected
- the 'yard' is huge but we could still keep an eye on our kids from the house while they ran all over playing. We were careful to walk around with our kids when we arrived and point out areas that we made off-limits bc of the terrain
- you feel like you're in the middle of nowhere but only 20 minutes from the closest grocery store
Cons:
- Honestly, we didn't find one. The only one we can think of but which didn't affect us was that there is no 3rd floor bathroom and you have to go through a second floor room to get to the bathroom. We knew this ahead of time, though, and planned so this would not be an issue for us.
This place is an amazing find. Thanks to Brandi, Ben, and Sharla for a wonderful week of much needed relaxation.
Amazingly beautiful. Private. Very clean. Great service. Jasper AR a very friendly town, the Blue Mountain Bakery and Cafe is fabulous! Great hiking close by.
Beautiful home, beautiful location, beautiful property. We had a wonderful week at this home. Relaxing and fun to watch the leaves change of the days we were there.
We had three adults, a 7 yr old, and 14 yr old. The home is beautiful and the small touches were so lovely. We felt welcomed immediately with warm brownies waiting for us, toiletries, plenty of towels, even chocolates on the pillows! Not to mention the property — it was beautifully maintained. We found a trail on the property that lead to the pond. The views were difficult to capture on photos. We felt like we were solitary on a hill with acres of greenery. There were trails close by and some worth the hour drive. Alum cove Trail was the most fun with the caves and Whitaker point the most thrilling at the end. I highly recommend and hope to return to this lovely home.
