"Gothic in the tropics. Very moody and atmospheric styling. Plus; outside my room there is a great looking statue of a whale shark! Bonus :) Room is very clean. Breakfast buffet is great and clean! Staff are super friendly and helpful. One area that can be better cleaned is the fitness center. It’s fabulous that it is 24hrs available, but here is a tip: Add some disposable alcohol wipes and this will make the experience better and 5 stars!"

AC Hotels by Marriott Ipoh

10/10 Excellent

"Next to all restaurants and gift shops. Great staff and hotel. Will be back again."

WEIL Hotel

10/10 Excellent

"Alan at the front counter was so nice and friendly as well as all other staff even the bell man and the staff helping us open the connecting door. The hotel i heard is dated but amazingly feels new and clean. Super spacious, infinity pool was huge and no one was swimming there the 4 times we swam! Free breakfast and siu yeh was excellent. The fact that they have a Ipoh coffee machine is just making me want to take another 15 hour flight and 2 hour car ride just to go to the hotel and stay honestly. 2 minutes walk to family mart when we were jet lagged at 2am. Direct access to the huge mall with everything you need. 5 minutes walk to local 188 food center and a ton to see nearby. I don't know another reason to stay elsewhere in Ipoh honestly."

8/10 Good

"The property is awesome and the pool and facilities are fantastic. The apartment was clean and had everything we needed but we found the set up a little different with the sink at the end of hallway. It is shown in the photos but just felt a bit peculiar in real life, can’t really explain why! E loved the rest of the apartment though and the beds are super comfy."

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Kampung Guar?

The best area to stay in Kampung Guar is the vicinity of the Kampung Guar Jetty, particularly for those looking to experience the local island life and access the nearby attractions.

This area is the primary point of entry and departure for island excursions, making it highly convenient for travelers. It features local eateries, small shops, and provides direct views of the strait and the neighboring islands. The general layout is centered around the jetty, with accommodations and services radiating outwards.

For travelers seeking a relaxed and authentic local experience, this area is ideal. You'll find yourself amidst the daily rhythms of the village, with easy access to fresh seafood and boat trips.
