Rimchan is an older style resort in not the most pleasant surroundings but once inside it was very peaceful with lovely pool and gardens. We had 2 triple family rooms and one had a very hard bed. The other room had a bathroom overrun by ants. Fantastic restaurant/bar and we ended up having both lunch and dinner there. The position suited us as we wanted to be close to the Myanmar border. Only real issue we had was the signs at the pool were only written in Thai, with no English translation. The Thai in our group could interpret for us and found had we stayed by the pool to enjoy a "sundowner" we would have been fined THB2000! Good value for money though.
Was all around good service, people, and food, the prices were excellent.... Friendly staff always eager to help. The only qualm I have with the resort, is the beds and pillows are quite firm.... If you like them that way, then they will suit your needs very well.

Gatewy to the Golden Triangle
It is an older style resort with a mixture of rooms and individual cabin style accommodation. Good pool area and lively bar at night frequented by the locals. The staff are extremely helpful.
Mae Chan is a convenient gateway to both the Golden Triangle and also the border crossing into Myanmar.
Only complaint is the bed mattress is very hard.
Very good value for money.

Hit or Miss!
I resevered two rooms. The room that was given to us had a broken ac and smelled of urine. The room was outdated back in the early 2000s! I complained to the front desk and all we received was “sorry we have no rooms left.” Packing up to leave to find another hotel, my mother in law spoke with the maintenance guy who checked on our AC and was able to convince the front desk to switch my Mom to another room and we take my moms room. My wife was happy so we stayed. Breakfast was basic egg, slice pork, and rice soup. Toast was good and fried rice. The pool was ok but they close it at 7pm. After a whole day walking around the golden triangle, it was refreshing to just hang out in the water. We checked in at 6pm.
The location of Rimchan resort isn't the best and finding affordable transport there is limited, although green buses do go past that way every three hours, where local buses veer off the main road just before reaching the markets.
Cabin accommodation is fairly standard, but the grounds themselves are actually very pleasant and anyone who enjoys relaxing by the pool and visiting karaoke bars will feel right at home staying there.
Just a short walk away, heading towards Chiang Rai, there are two really picturesque temples with others further down the road, so a day trip to Mae Chan, or an overnight stay would be well worth considering.
