This is a quaint, historical place to stay with lots of antiques and interesting furnishings. We enjoyed the patio, pub and live music on the night we stayed. We would stay again if we find ourselves in the area.
Room 14 was great for spirit activity as well as the rest of the property! Highly recommend ghost hunters to explore the inn. Food at their Larick’s tavern was delish!! Overall service and staff were knowledgeable and friendly! We had a great experience for our anniversary!
The Wayside more than met our expectations for early American historic properties. It has a broad selection of antique-filled bedrooms that are clean and comfortable. The public spaces vary from an 18th century log tavern encased in the younger early 19th century spaces with elegant Victorian parlors, all immaculately dusted. The floors are likewise beautifully kept up. The staff is welcoming and kindly and eager to talk about the Inn and its history. The restaurant Clem's Kitchen has a charming, attentive staff and excellent food with a vegetarian polenta that far surpassed the pasta option usually found in meat predominant restaurants. Their cocktails were superior. We plan to stay there any time we are in the Shenandoah Valley and will recommend it to friends and family who like to travel historic byways.
This inn is absolutely amazing. Staff went above and beyond to ensure we were comfortable and our stay was memorable. We plan to come back very soon!

Wonderful historic town and tavern. When you want to stay in something other than the usual hotel this is a fun alternative. Historic for sure - dining only on certain days but plenty of good choices around - don’t miss Shaffer’s barbecue further down road - incredible food!!!!!
Loved this property! Staff is extremely friendly and professional. Really unique place to stay with a ton of history!! Also very active with paranormal activity.

I was given a room on the third floor without elevators. I think I was the only person staying at the hotel so I decided since I was a solo traveler I was given a room for one person and maybe because I booked thru Expedia, I don’t know.
The room was very comfortable.
Restaurant and bar were closed until later in the week. I was there on a Monday so beware of limited places to eat and drink on a Monday evening.
The desk clerk goes home at 9 pm but there is a number to call after hours for a problem.
Since I was leaving at 7:30 I had to search around how to get out as the office didn’t open until 9 am and I hadn’t been given info on how to exit it I was leaving early.
But, I found a back door I could unlock and open and it would lock after me.
The antiques were amazing!
WIFI spoty. The evening hit or miss but good in the morning. I have Xfinity as a cell service and I had mostly 1 bar with an occasionl 2bars - so be aware of that.
Wonderful staff. Unique and historic inn. Clean comfortable and very interesting place with a very good restaurant on premises. So enjoyable.

Old Inn with unique features great for those who don’t want the cookie cutter experience. Great history and furniture was amazing, the building itself was incredible. Lot of history in the building. The manager was very knowledgeable about the history and property. Staff was great. Enjoyed my visit.
We were fortunate enough to stay in one of the original rooms. Beautifully decorated, comfortable, clean and quiet. Exceptionally nice staff which told us the history of the Inn. I look forward to returning and having brunch with them on a Sunday.
If your history buff exploring the area this is your ideal base of operations. Close to many local historical sites and the place itself is a piece of Americana. If the walls could talk in this place who knows what it would tell us about the past. The place is remarkably well kept given its age and the centuries old architecture lends to the quaintness of this landmark.
