Picturesque Cottage on a Beautiful Farm

The cottage at Henry River Farm is your perfect restful retreat. Nestled between the South Mountains and Henry River, the peaceful cottage makes for a tranquil getaway.
The studio cottage is equipped with all the amenities including a queen bed, kitchen, full bathroom, lovely little dining table, A/C and TV (with DISH network).
Take it easy and relax on the spacious patio while you take in the South Mountain hills.
Come enjoy the simple farm life.

Let's talk about the space! Ship Lap on the walls from the floor to ceiling sets the scene, and beautiful hardwood floors line the cottage.

The large patio area includes a picnic table, patio furniture, and rocking chairs. Perfect for curling up with a good book and a cup of coffee.

We offer a farm-fresh breakfast basket with ingredients from our farm (when supplies are available) for an additional fee.

Nothing beats the outside charm of the eleven-acre farm. Take a stroll around the space and catch a glimpse of our farm friends including cows, pigs, goats, chickens, and ducks. (*electric fence surrounds the cows and chickens)

Enjoy private access to the Henry River for fishing (NC fishing license is required) and swimming.

Approximately 15 minutes to downtown Morganton. Less than 15 minutes to South Mountain State Park. Enjoy all the other attractions Morganton has to offer including Lake James, Table Rock, & Linville Falls.

Really neat place if you want to get away from city life and enjoy peace and quiet. Owners are very friendly and responsive. I wasn’t there long enough to try the breakfast “which upsets me because I’m sure it would have been delicious”. Plenty of wildlife and stock animals that I’m sure kids would love it. Almost stole their cat though. We became buddies and everytime I would go outside, here came my little buddy to keep me company. I would highly recommend a stay here.

Henry Farm Stay
We had a wonderful time there. The hosts have a little store where they sell strawberries (delicious I must say) and other items. They are very nice and all of the animals are friendly. Especially the cat and dog. The cat led us down towards the river like a tour guide. I would stay here again for sure.

Perfection!
My husband and I absolutely LOVED our stay at the farm!!! It was as described but so much better in person! We fed the cows apples, took a cold plunge in the Henry River, watched the sunset, had coffee with the cows, enjoyed the fire pit, and loved on Maddie (dog) and Alley (cat). We also enjoyed hiking Hawksbill and South Mountain State Park. Unfortunately, a few places in downtown Morganton were closed on Mondays and Tuesdays but that just gave us more time to enjoy the farm. We would absolutely recommend staying at the Cottage!!

Beyond my expectations!
This was an ideal stay as it was only 3 hours from Raleigh NC! The elevation provided a 10 degree cooler temperature. I beat the July heat here with mornings in the mid 60s F! The host was friendly and gave a tour of the farm. It was fantastic to sip of morning coffee in July and watch highland cows graze, chickens roam and a pig play! Moreover, my son and I explored the Henry River which is adjacent to the property. From the property we explored, linville gorge, south mountain park, and Blowing Rock. We loved staying here because it was clean, quite, and superb farm experience. Lastly, if was a shorter drive back to the RDU region.

Breath of fresh air!
We felt completely comfortable and cozy during our stay at the Henry River cottage. With limited celluar service it was so nice to be able to put down the electronics and enjoy the animals and scenery! We sat outside in the rocking chairs and watched the cows graze and the chickens and sweet dog came to say hi often! We wandered the short trail down to the river and waded in the water (it was pretty low). It wasn't far to go into downtown Morganton for a nice dinner on the river (we went to Town Tavern, it was great!). Enjoyed a little shopping as well. It's about a 15 minute drive to South Mountain State Park, there are various hiking trails and waterfalls! Thank you for the hospitality and we will definitely be back!

Perfect Getaway
Really cool super clean quiet place in the country. Perfect for a weekend getaway. Plan on getting away from the hustle and bustle and enjoy the quiet farm and very friendly animals. Well appointed small cottage with comfy bed and studio kitchen. Very private but yet just next-door to the owners. Lots of little touches like snack basket and bath accessories.

I wish we stayed longer
This is pure rest and relaxation. Just my wife and I for 1 night, but as soon as we sat down in the rocking chairs, we knew we should have done another night. Solid breakfast and they already have everything you need. We brought a speaker, but actually turned it off to just enjoyed the silence and each others company. We will absolutely be going back.

Very cozy and very small, but fine for 2 people. Plenty of patio room outside to enjoy watching an actual working farm, with cattle, chickens, pigs and a friendly dog & cat! Very relaxing and a nice walk down to the river!

Peace and Quiet on the Farm
This was truly an enjoyable stay for us! The cottage was cute and well appointed; everything was very clean and orderly. Sitting on the back porch was such a peaceful experience - the back porch overlooks one of the pastures and as you watch the cows graze, the chickens come right up to you and roam. It is just a joyful experience to sit in the quiet and enjoy nature! We did opt for the farm fresh breakfast - it was delicious! I will mention that we read a review that mentioned the stove was slow to heat - we did not experience that at all - we had sausage cooking in no time! We highly recommend staying at Henry River Farms! The hosts were so very nice and enjoyable to meet. They have really worked hard to make their farm an enjoyable and inviting place - you will not regret your decision to book with them!

Quiet Farm Country
The cabin has all the amenities one or two people would need. There are great resources for restaurant and activities. The walk to the river is so peaceful. You may be greeted by a very sweet doggo and cat. The chickens are sweet and croon to you as they walk past you sitting outdoors. A truly delightful stay.

A beautiful country setting. The cabin was clean and quiet - and the 'neighbors' (cows, donkey, pigs, chickens, cat, and dad) were very friendly. Highly recommend. Will return as we are able! (Also - recommend getting the breakfast - outstanding home-grown food!) :-)

Loved every minute! Super comfy full bed, beautifully decorated and organized space, delicious farm basket(highly recommend) and pork chops, cute animals, perfect bonfire pit, grill, phenomenal porch with tin roof (love listening to the rain), sattelite tv, and comfy rocking chairs. Perfect place for reflection, art, and time with Jesus! So many little touches from the keurig, books, throws, 2 burner stove top, fridge, patio lights, etc. Hope to return!

Nice and rural
Mandy and Tyler are terrific hosts!! Maddy is the friendliest dog ever! The cottage is extremely cozy and comfortable yet small. Despite the horrible rain 95% of the time we were there it was still quite nice to sit outside and not get rained on and be able to cook on the grill! Tyler even offered us there home basement to ride out one of the tornado warnings if we needed to!!! I will try to make this simple but informative. The property is on a working farm and you are right in the middle of it!!! The host do there best to allow privacy but only so much you can do when the work needs to get done!! We loved that the ducks and chickens will wander right into the sitting area outside. The cows are extremely friendly outside the cottage...they are fenced in but will come right up to the fence for attention!! It is very rural and quiet but only 15 minutes from town so you can get whatever you need. Only a few cons in the stay....but if you enjoy cozy they shouldnt affect your stay..it didnt affect ours. 1) the hot plate is slow and doesnt heat up very high..plan to use the grill 2) There is nowhere to really sit inside but the bed to watch TV...it was ok for us because we spent most of our time outside 3) The "shelf" under the TV is rather narrow to eat at but it is manageable 4) No handle on the inside of the bathroom barn style door so leave yourself a little crack to open the door when needing to leave! Those are such small things that are really easy to work around and dont let any of those stop you from staying at this cottage! It is highly recommended for a quiet getaway and we hope to stay there again very soon!!!
