I loved this place. The ambience was so “New England !” We were able to walk almost everywhere we wanted to go, there were several excellent restaurants nearby, and it was quiet at night. I hope to come back sometime!

My friend and I loved our stay at the Chart House Inn! If you are looking for a sweet cozy traditional style BNB look no further! We especially loved the location as it is in the sweet spot of town where it's just far away from all the noise so it's not overwhelming, but close enough to the action near America's Cup & Thames St. If walking, it is about a 15 minute walk to the International Tennis Hall of Fame. I would definitely come back again.

Loved our stay at The Charter Inn! Amazing location — pretty central to the busiest parts of Newport. We walked most of the time and left our car parked in the inn’s lot. The entire inn was spick and span, with charm in every corner of the building! We stayed in the Ida Lewis room, which was super spacious, had a beautiful bathroom, and was super comfy! Highly recommend The Charter Inn!

No cup in the room to drink coffee or tea. No cups in the bathroom for brushing teeth. Need to go to the lobby/kitchen in the first floor to get hot water or coffee, but some time the water is running out and the staff will not be there until late in the afternoon. The AC in the lobby is broken so there is no cool air in the lobby.

What a charming little stay we had! Everything was very clean and easy to navigate. The beds were from heaven!!! Parking was easy and free. Super easy walk to all the fun things going on downtown. Future patrons, please note: - Although this is listed as a bed and breakfast, breakfast is not included. - No full body mirrors in the Julia Berwind room. We stayed for a wedding and wished we brought ours with us!

I had communicated in advance that we would be a late arrival on our first night. The owner manager left clear instructions along with our key and a couple of complementary drink tokens to a sister restaurant. The Ida Lewis Suite more than suited our needs. It had a lovely freestanding tub, which we did not use, but the shower was incredible. The bath products that this hotelier has chosen to use were delightful. The product can be found in downtown Newport. Believe me I made a stop and it’s on its way to Seattle now. My husband and I don’t typically choose small bed-and-breakfast type properties. In this particular instance, I’m glad that we did. The accommodation itself along with the history made this the perfect spot for us in Newport.

The room was very large, bed comfortable. They room layout with bathroom was a bit odd. Decor was very well done. The host was very friendly and times for check in were accommodating. Great location in downtown Newport. The room could have used a chair or two at the foot of the bed, so that there was a place to sit and possible drop items.

Probably one of my most favorite hotel experiences! The hotel/room is so charming and excellent location. They included drink vouchers and breakfast vouchers to a local restaurant down the street. Most definitely will stay here every chance we get!
