Cozy rooms with great washroom facilities. Very clean and comfortable beds. Rooms are equipped with electricity outlets, wifi and tv for those needing it. The pub itself is fantastic with a very well stocked bar. The restaurant serves home cooked meals with a great selection of local produce. From this location you are pretty central to either coast and Dartmoor itself. The staff are very friendly and have a great local knowledge for whatever you are looking for. We stayed for three nights visiting family. The room was lovely. We had dinner two nights and the food was superb. Breakfast was totally help yourself, which was great. Perhaps an egg would have been nice but not essential! The pub had a lively atmosphere and Charlie is a great host. I'd like to have seen a hand rail for coming down the stairs, but i managed. Charlie was a warm, friendly and accomodating host of this free house. The bar is populated by locals - who made us feel very welcome and regaled us with stories - both personal and of the region. We ate there one evening and chose to sit in the bar (a restaurant choice is also available). The food was beautifully cooked and very tasty. We stayed in the en suite twin bedded room - which was spacious, comfortable and very clean. A cold breakfast was available, without too much concern for time keeping (we were late as had enjoyed a few too many drinks the night before!).
