Stroll into the sky on a transparent walkway perched on the edge of a cliff at the point where two seas meet.

Visit the Oryukdo Skywalk, a thrilling open-air glass observation deck that stretches out from the top of a rocky bluff and appears to hang over the sea. Shaped like a saddle, the site was built in 2012 at the meeting point of the East Sea and the South Sea. Walk along the glass platform and gaze out over picturesque waters.

Look down through some of the 24 glass panels of the 50-foot (15-meter) bridge. It is shaped like a horseshoe, wrapping around iron columns that are built into the 115-foot (35-meter) cliffs. The thick glass is made of bulletproof material, offering a safe passage past the edge of the rocky bluff.

While on the glass platform, glance over the side or down past your feet and let the roll of the waves steal your gaze. Look out to the horizon and spot rocky islets cropping up above the surface of the water. On the wooden deck before the beginning of the glass platform is a pair of benches, where you can sit and watch people go by against a picturesque backdrop. Set up a picnic on a grassy slope beside the access to the observation platform.

The viewing platform is open year-round from morning until evening, but closes in extremely difficult weather. Free to enter, the glass deck can hold a maximum of 120 people at once, with a first-come, first-served policy. Note that the site was used as a filming location for the 2009 South Korean movie Tidal Wave.

The Oryukdo Skywalk is at the southeastern tip of Nam-gu in southeastern Busan. From the center of the city, take a combination of bus and metro to get here in a little more than 1 hour. While in the area, travel to some of the surrounding highlights, including the Gyeonseongam Hermitage, Baegunpo Sports Park and the Sinseondae Cliff.
