Get energetic with a vacation in the idyllic alpine town of Pinzolo, where the wide array of outdoor activities includes skiing, hiking and much more.

The scenic town of Pinzolo, in the lovely Val Rendena, is popular with skiers, hikers, bikers and those who just love the outdoors. Its location in the beautiful Dolomites makes it ideal for a range of activities. Venture into the pristine white landscape on snowshoes or see the town from the air as you go paragliding.

A town has stood here for many hundreds of years. See the San Vigilio Church, erected in the early 16th century, to get a sense of the town’s long history. In the late 19th century Pinzolo first became a major draw for climbers. Stay in one of the hotels dating from this period and imagine the town as it was in those early days. Visit in March to see even more clearly how the old traditions are still kept alive here. This is when Trato Marzo, a lively folk festival, occurs.

Today, Pinzolo benefits from its connection with another noted skiing town, the beautiful Madonna di Campiglio. Ride the gondola joining the two and experience the wide variety of ski slopes near the other town.

One of the most impressive ski lifts around Pinzolo is the wonderful Tulot Gondola, which offers outstanding views. Climb aboard and head up to the well-loved Dolomitica ski run, known as one of the trickiest routes in the region.

Visit in summer to take advantage of the glorious hiking opportunities offered by the area surrounding Pinzolo. Follow trails through wildflower-filled meadows and shaded alpine forests and swim in the lakes you find along the way. Set out on the well-known Via Bocchette trail, which offers dramatic views but is certainly not for beginners.

Reach Pinzolo from Trento train station by car in about 1.5 hours. Alternatively, arrange a transfer from one of the airports, such as Milan or Bergamo, located about a 3-hour drive away. Be sure to come with a camera, hiking boots and plenty of energy.
