It has been sympathetically restored to make it a comfortable, modern hotel. The staff are friendly and the rooms are spotless. There is a comfortable lounge and I enjoyed sitting there with a book in the evening. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. The room we booked was a premium king and had a large bathroom. We ate both nights in the hotel’s restaurant as we enjoyed the food there on our previous visit. The room was very clean and the bed and bedding were excellent. The only minor issues were the bathroom vanity unit was very tatty with warped wood and slightly peeling paint and the tiles behind the toilet were lifting with grubby grouting. A very good shower both power and temperature but possibly a new shower tray overdue. The bi fold doors to the bathroom did not work well! Several times one of us got stuck in the bathroom or couldn’t get the door open to get in and really noisy to use it during the night. Design needs a rethink. Lovely staff and excellent food. A few minor things that could be improved, the bed was so hard that it was hard to sleep and the noise in the hall from doors slamming from the automatic door closers and then load beeping when the doors didn’t quite close. The room was great, the staff were friendly and helpful, and the lounge etc are just wonderful.
