Great friendly place to stay
Great communication and welcome. The room was a little tired but clean and comfortable. Breakfast was excellent.
The price I paid for booking on Hotels.com was contested by the guest house owner as being in error. After several phone calls, it was determined that this was no fault of my own, but rather a programming glitch. Yet I was made to feel responsible for this:
The room I was given was not what I had booked. There was also no safe in the room as indicated on the booking.
The room looked tired, needing some TLC maintenance (dusty rafters, sagging bed, broken chest of drawers, broken trimmings, stubborn toilet flush). The shower has no place to hang your bits while you're showering. Other than that, the heating was great and parking onsite was very helpful. The location of the site is also good.
Breakfast was a disappointment: very menial and uninspiring (coffee and sugar from sachets, one loaf of bread for toast, 3 cereals, orange juice). I was advised that I would have to pay £6 extra for a cooked breakfast - this was not in the initial booking information. The radio was on very loud in the room adjacent to the breakfast room, which did not aid the ambience nor assist my tinnitus.
I did not feel cared for as a customer and felt the proprietor was more interested in getting my money than whether or not I had a restful stay. I will not be returning to this venue - it was overpriced even for the lower price I paid.
Nice place, wasn’t keen on owner coming into room as soon as we had checked in to look for something in room, (I was in the bath) and then unplugging the heater. Apart from that was a nice stay

A little dated but comfirtable
We stayed 2 nights. Bed very comfortable and room OK but bathroom small and in need of some tlc. Host was very friendly and cooked a decent full English breakfast
Easy to find, friendly welcome. Well equipped room. Very nice breakfast. Overall very good value for money. I would stay here again if ever coming through this part of the country again.
Two suggestions for the future, some spare blankets in the cupboard for particularly cold nights. And the door would benefit from darker curtains to stop the light coming in.
Sehr netter Vermieter.

Adequate
Nice big room but smelt damp. Bathroom needs money spent on it as it lets the room down. Mould over ceiling, shelf not useable, pull cord dirty. Hot water ran out.
However, good telly, nice welcome tray and nice breakfast. Plenty of parking. You get what you pay for.
Asked the owner to put up some curtains in my room as I had people looking in as I was walking around my room following a shower. He refused saying u was a lucky person. I challenged this and he said that I had my priorities wrong as if that was all I had to worry about ( people looking at me in my room) then I was looking and started to talk about him having cancer. If I had been a woman I have no idea what he would have said.
Friendly reception, well looked after, comfortable bed, excellent breakfast

No stay!!
Unfortunately we were not able to fulfill this booking due to a family crisis and it was non-refundable. The owner happened to ring me on the morning of the intended stay and although sympathising with my plight, could not offer a refund. Fair enough, just thought with extreme circumstances, we might have got something back. Did offer a discount stay should we need to stay again, but not sure of the likelihood.
I suppose for the money it was ok, however just little things to improve, a mirror in our room, the right number of towels, cups, glasses, the pillow was about an inch thick, the toilet was very open to the room with no fan, noise of people laughing and talking loudly until about 2 in the morning, sound insulation bad. Man was very friendly however, especially as it was last minute.
