For my room it took forever to get into our room once we checked in as it was not ready. There was no outlet covers on the outlets. The maid really did not clean they just made the beds. Our room smelled like pot everyday as our next door room was smoking and smell would seep under door. The ammenities were never replenished unless we said something.

It was very difficult to get anything you needed. We called several times to get what we needed and it was never taken care of the first or second time. They told us we couldn’t get more than two wash clothes, for a family of 5, because they didn’t have any. There was a leak in our room along with mold so we had to switch rooms. We were told we were going to be upgraded, but they decided to put us in the middle of all the chaos where it was loud which had two separate rooms for my family and I.We purchased a family suite. Outlets and the toilet button fell off the wall when you touched them and there was a cockroach in the closet. After all of the issues with two days left of our trip they decided to give us royal treatment, which didn’t help at all because we were with another family and did not want to leave them. The manager was absolutely unprofessional and nasty to talk to. We will NEVER return to this hotel.

We absolutely love this hotel! Not only is our stay always very pleasant here, but the grounds are beautifully kept, the staff are extremely helpful and friendly, and the options for food are fantastic. We also had a lovely experience this time with Ricardo who guided us with our check in and out process, got us the room building we requested, checked on us at our dinner reservations (that he made for us) and made sure our taxi to the airport was ready for us! Not only was the Occidental stay amazing, but the Expedia experience was top notch! See you in 2027!

The facility is nice and clean. Room service is reliable and does a good job. The beach was wonderful. The food was unfortunately, not up to par. We were in building 10, which was very close to the restaurants and the big pool but also very loud music until 11pm each night and a bright spotlight shining on our room. We made the best out of our trip, but will not be back to this resort, mostly because of the food.

Lovely property, showing a little age, but I went for a beach vacation. I don’t go to spend time in the room. Bed was comfy, I loved the pillows. No washcloths! Wonderful staff, food was good, although repeated choices. Beach area was beautiful, need to replace some loungers. Shops in resort were pretty much all the same merchandise. I’d go again!

The staff/bartenders/front desk staff was quite rude, inattentive, and slow. Check-in took 45 mins while we watched multiple staff stand and watch someone else. The Italian restaurant was especially rude, forgetting about us. Waiter after waiter kept passing us off to someone else who would show up at the table for 4 seconds.

Nearly every staff member we encountered at this property was amazing. Bar service is a bit slow, but I guess that's to be expected "on island time". Would love more than one (small) swim up bar but it didn't ruin our trip either. Our (unexpected) Expedia Concierge, Ricardo, was amazing. He took care of everything and was always accessible. Rooms are decent, property is very clean, food was okay and what you expect for an all-inclusive. Specialty restaurants were okay, but nice to have a change of scenery. Traveler demographics were a good mix of spring break students, families, and couples of all ages. Nightly entertainment was appreciated. A really good value property.

If you love an affordable but perfect Beach and super clean water.. this is a spot for you. However, food is oh...eatable, this is the best I can say about that. A room is old, but clean and spacious. It is absolutely not enough entertainment .. at least for us. But we are the beach lovers, so we definitely enjoyed our stay on the beach. We loved pools as well very much. Overall, the price was not that expensive, so we don't have any complaints neither regrets. We truly enjoyed the pools, water, and the beach.

The Occidental was a great spring break trip! After reading a few negative reviews, I was skeptical about what to expect, but everything met or exceeded my expectations. From check-in to check-out the staff were helpful and friendly. Our room was nice, cleaned daily, and centrally located. We enjoyed all of the onsite restaurants in the evenings. Some were better than others, especially the Mexican restaurant, but we were pleased to have tried them all.The buffets and smaller snack bar at the pool allowed for a variety of choices at lunch. Breakfast at both buffets equally had many choices. The pool area was great, and we never had issues finding chairs regardless the time of day. The beach was our favorite! It was beautiful and the best way to spend the day. On the sunny days, we did find it necessary to go out early to find chairs together. Overall, the Occidental is a resort I would visit again! The variety of food, friendliness of staff, and beautiful pool and beaches made it a perfect week!

Property looks ok, the beach is very nice, our only complain was the overall food quality at the buffet, don’t get me wrong, there are a lot of options but everything tasted bland, touristy even,not like authentic Dominican food, desserts were really unimpressive, most staff around the property were kind, not a bad place to be even though there aren’t that many activities in Punta Cana , so unless you like to just sit on the beach and eat and drink all day,you get bored spending more then a week there .

Waitstaff was kind and friendly, the resort itself was beautiful, but some of the rooms need work. Food wasn't great, but it wasn't terrible.
