About this property
Charming rural cottage, with stove & large garden overlooking Loch Awe, Argyll.
No 2 is a perfect retreat, in a tranquil location, overlooking Loch Awe in 'Awesome Argyll'. Looking for a relaxing break? We (and our guests!) think it’s almost impossible not to relax in the peaceful surroundings of No 2. Our charming 2 bedroom, semi-detached cottage is perfect for either 2 couples or a small family. No 2 is a former forestry worker’s cottage, which has been upgraded to offer very comfortable accommodation in a scenic location.
You will have the use of a large private garden, with outdoor seating and a small bbq, where you can enjoy the views over Loch Awe, watch (and hear!) the birds or just contemplate life!
If the weather isn’t great for outdoor living (apparently, theres no such thing as poor weather, just inappropriate clothing and footwear!😉) then just curl up with a favourite book in front of the stove.
The area immediately around No 2 is primarily forestry land with almost endless opportunities for walking, off road cycling and fishing, with necessary permits. The property is situated approximately 23 miles from Oban (often and not without good reason, known as the Seafood Capital of Scotland and the Gateway to the Isles) on National Cycle Route 78, The Caledonia Way.
Within around an hour’s drive of No 2, there are many historical and scenic places to visit e.g. Kilchurn Castle, Kilmartin Glen, Glencoe Crinan Canal, Tayvallich and other coastal villages popular with the sailing community.
For those partial to Uisge Beatha (water of life) there are also a number of distilleries within easy reach.
No 2 offers comfortable, centrally heated, accommodation for up to 4 people: - Sitting room, overlooking Loch Awe with wood burning stove and dining area(extending table). Smart TV. - Double bedroom overlooking Loch Awe - King/twin bedroom (can be made up as required – please confirm configuration at least one week before arrival) - Bed linen and towels are provided - Well-equipped, fitted kitchen with oven, microwave, fridge freezer, dishwasher and washer dryer - contemporary bathroom with electric shower - Wi-fi - full fibre broadband so it is possible to work , though why you’d want to, we’ve no idea!🤷🏼♀️ - Large garden with patio/seating areas. The garden is not fully enclosed so small children need to be closely supervised. A small BBQ is available. - No pets - No smoking Please Note that as No 2 is served by a private water supply so bottled water for drinking is strongly advised. An initial supply of bottled water will be provided. The water system is maintained and tested regularly. A torch is strongly recommended if you plan to arrive after dark. Part of the attraction of the area is the lack of ambient lighting which means that, on a clear night, star formations are clearly visible. We don't want to spoil that for our neighbours so while there is some outside lighting a torch will be useful. Torches are provided for your use during your stay. Security cameras are in operation, outside the property, but will be disabled when guests arrive and only used, if needed, to check the property, during a guest stay. No 2 is available to let for short breaks with a minimum 3 night stay. Short-term Let Licence No. AR00740F issued by Argyll & Bute Council 25/4/2024 EPC Rating D

The property was beautiful and very cosy and very clean. When we arrived the fire was lit, and the extra touches such as fresh flowers, beautiful soap in the bathroom etc made it more homely. The garden is beautiful and the hosts couldn't do enough for us, recommendations of where to visit, eat etc. If we needed anything to message them.
We had a fantastic stay at the cottage. It was incredibly comfortable, and had everything we needed to feel right at home. The space was perfect for relaxing, in a perfectly peaceful location! I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet, relaxing getaway and would love to return in the future!
This cottage was everything that the listing promised. We were able to visit so many sights from this location over our 5 day stay. It was nice to have a kitchen to cook dinner rather than eat out all the time. Thanks Fiona, we had a great stay
Stayed for five nights amidst our month of Scotland travels. A bit away (hour or so drive) from most tourist locations if that's what you're looking for. Amazing restaurant a few miles away. Fiona and Andy were just great and had lovely neighbors. Helps to gather groceries in Oban before coming in. Lots of sheep! Didn't get to the BBQ but its a great option!
Really well equipped house with beautiful surroundings. After clear instructions of how to arrive and check in we felt warmly welcomed with fresh flowers and some chocolates from Oban. Plenty of lovely walks nearby, but the house was also a great place to use as a base to explore wider, from a trip to Oban (picking up more chocolates!) to a walk up Ben Cruachan. We’d love to stay again and continue to explore. Huge thanks to Fiona and Andy for being such great hosts!!
It went far to quickly. Beautiful setting and it provided everything we needed. The Host made us very welcome and shared her knowledge of the area. We visited Seil island a place we wouldn't have considered but so glad we did, it wasn't crowded and the people were so welcoming. The cottage was clean warm and comfortable. Eating outside was a great treat and the children enjoyed the garden games so much.
Amazing Argyll was just outstanding. A beautiful cottage in a beautiful and peaceful location. The kitchen was equipped with just about anything you could think of, the washer/dryer was a lifesaver and the beds exceptionally comfortable. I honestly could not rate our stay high enough and wished we had stayed longer. If we ever make it back (it's a long way from Australia), we will definitely stay here and for longer. Massive thanks to Fiona for making this a special stay with a little surprise since it was my dad's birthday on our check in day.
Fiona was the most amazing host ever! Super friendly and helpful. When two of us were sick, she and her husband made a special trip to be next door in case we needed anything. Definitely exceptional hosts! The home itself is perfect for a family. Lots of space all extremely well furnished and clean. The garden is a lot of fun, as well, and came with ball games for the kids to play with. The location is fairly remote which is super for relaxing. It's a bit of a trot to Oban and other sites, but well worth it to have such a nice home to come back to. One of the top places we have ever stayed at and we would be happy to come back.

Beautiful cottage in a quiet, idyllic location. Beautifully and lovingly furnished. You have all the comforts of a modern and well equipped kitchen, washing machine and a lovely new bathroom. Everything is clean and you can feel very comfortable.
Fiona and Andy are great landlords!
They also went above and beyond to help us with a personal problem with our car and spent a lot of time with us. We are very grateful for that. Hospitality is very important here.
Thank you very much!

We have just returned from our visit to No 2. What a stunning location!!
The cottage had everything we needed (family of 4, two teenagers) and the hosts had thought of all the necessities and more.
The chocolates, soap and flowers were a lovely addition.
We found a lot to do in the area - Oban was just 30-40 mins away and there were waterfalls, walks and cycle tracks nearby.
We went to the pub in Kilchrenan and got takeway from Black Rock curries just along the road.
Dalavich had a little shop about 2 miles down the road if you run out of essentials and a lovely little cafe
Stargazing was amazing from the garden and we had a really lovely few days.
We would definitely return. Thank you so much 😊
We had a very pleasant weekend with our family. The cottage is very nice, the bathroom was renovated recently, we could make use of the fireplace, nice garden ... it just had a lot of facilities which makes the stay more pleasant. This with the very warm welcoming we had made our stay perfect.
