Things to do in Port Glasgow

The SSE Hydro, an iconic, elliptical building on the banks of the River Clyde, is one of the busiest concert venues in the world. Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park offer some of the most spectacular scenery in the country, just a 1-hour drive north of Glasgow. The villages in the area are steeped in history and legend, and locally sourced food takes pride of place at many of the local restaurants.

Experience the thrill of watching a live sporting event in Hampden Park, one of soccer's most celebrated arenas. The stadium is the home ground for the Scottish soccer team as well as Queen's Park Football Club. You don't have to be enrolled to enjoy the historic sights of Scotland's second-oldest college or to attend the public lectures and concerts that the university hosts. Head to Gilmorehill Campus in the west end of the city for the main attractions.

Visit George Square, named after King George III, to stand in the heart of Glasgow. See statues and sculptures of pioneering Scotsmen, admire historic architecture and enjoy fine dining. The square is a gathering place during large celebrations, such as St. Andrew’s Day on November 30, Christmas carnivals, student fairs and Hogmanay (New Year’s Eve).
