“Staff was courteous and friendly. Clean bedding and towels. However the room had never been updated. We could see outside around the door jam. The water was orange when first on!!!!! ”

“The Gillen House is a perfect destination if you are looking for a relaxing and peaceful getaway that is close to Athens and not too far away from Atlanta. The hosts, Edward and Cynzia, were very welcoming and made us feel at home. The food at breakfast was excellent. Especially the steaks and sides that we had for dinner on our arrival evening. The room was spotless and perfect. We definitely enjoyed our stay!”

“Simple. Active at night but not loud. This place would benefit from self check-in, self checkout. I think it may have been cheaper if I'd just have booked it without Expedia.”

“This is a $60 /night hotel that they are charging $115 /night. For starters, whoever is the maintenance person, thy need to be fired. the bathtub had a hole in the floor and all they did was put white duct tape over it useless!!!. Then thy must have remodeled the room but instead of using the same size sink, light fixtures, nightstand and toilet, they used smaller sizer but left the bolts and nails and wholes that the old fixtures caused exposed. On top of that the sheets and mattress covers……

“It is a bare bones motel. It’s good if you just need a bed. It is clean. Like motels of the 60’s”

“It was very private and quiet and a secluded area. It was a clean, cute little place. Only thing that drove me crazy was the acorns that kept falling on the tin roof. Overall great stay!”

“Angler's Retreat is a perfect place for fishing Clarks Hill or Russell. Very convenient to both lakes. The home is well equipped and has plenty of parking for your boat. We will be looking to stay here again when we are back in the area for a trip. The hosts are very responsive and easy to deal with. ”

“No cooking utensils, no coffee maker, only two towels, no bar of soap, The shower/tub valve needs replacing resulting in very little water pressure. Beds were comfortable and parking was great.”
