The staff at the Workington Hotel managed to find us a room for 1 night. We were very happily with the accommodation provided but later that night we had an issue with our door and couldn’t get into the room. After going backwards and forwards 4 times and the Manager Andy not being able to open the door either the staff had to break into the room. Obviously we couldn’t stay there as there was only half a door left. Now I do have to say that Andy and his staff were fantastic and nothing was too much trouble. Andy found us a room in the hotel which was absolutely lovely. After a good nights sleep breakfast was provided free of charge. Check-in down the road (not far). Most rooms on a busy road with a lot of traffic noise + could hear other roms through the wall. Not enough milk with no onsite reception to request more. The reason for giving 3stars is because for an hotel with 4star you will not get what you expect. The room is very small, the light is very low level, the window is not opening so we couldn't have fresh air. The smell inside the room is awful. Is smell like some rodent died there. Over night you can here the pipe working from all rooms around. And the attitude of staff from restaurant was quite rude.
