"Staying at this hotel was an incredible and unique experience! The way the old prison has been transformed into a modern hotel is absolutely brilliant. The historic atmosphere is preserved perfectly, and the clean rooms are very comfortable. The staff is clearly understaffed and overwhelmed with duties, but they work incredibly hard and do their absolute best to keep the atmosphere and everything else perfect. Both the breakfast and parking options were excellent. Highly recommended!"

"Couldn't fault this hotel. Needed somewhere to stay for a 4 night break in Amsterdam. The area is quiet but only 2 stops on the Metro from Centraal. Hotel almost next door to the station. Everything very modern. Room very comfortable with a good shower. Breakfast had everything that you need."

"The property is in a quiet new residential neighborhood just west of central. Initially I was a little concerned with distance to the city attractions but after 4 nights at The July, I can truthfully say the location was perfect for us. Still easily connected by a healthy walk, bike, tram/bus, free ferries or the occasional Uber, the quiet riverfront location was a great respite from central and had some very notable restaurants close by. Our 1 bedroom suite faced the river where we could watch swimmers and boaters as well as the river commerce drift by. The room was lovely, well appointed and spotless. The fitness facility outfitted with Technogym equipment was a great plus. There’s also a wellness centre with sauna and steam. The pre booking system ensured the facilities were not overcrowded. The self serve laundry facility was a great convenience. The restaurant, Vessel, served up solid meals and we took advantage of the live jazz Saturday night. The staff were friendly, informative and eager to be of help. We would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone wanting an upscale, relaxing, quiet yet convenient visit to Amsterdam."

"Great location, opposite the station and a lovely 5 min ferry ride across the IJ. The hotel was quite stylish and we loved the lifts - much fun was had singing karaoke or dancing on the disco floor. We had a corner room but the view was mainly of the This is Holland building next door so rather disappointing. The bathroom had full size windows next to the shower and opposite the loo, which I hated! The room was an ok size and was quite well-equipped, but the turntable for playing vinyl was rubbish, so we used our own portable Sonos instead. The wardrobe was miniscule and contained just 3 hangers for 2 people, so we had to request more and were given another 2. Still not enough, so had to ask for more. Service just felt a bit meh at times. Breakfast was ok, but vastly overpriced. Yes, the views from the revolving restaurant are great, but there was limited choice on the menu. The pastries and juices were absolutely fantastic but we were served tiny cups of coffee and were told we'd have to pay to order more. Staff were friendly enough and the downstairs bar was quite pleasant, but expensive."

"Attractive waterside location and easily accessible from Centraal Station using the 48 bus to Koivistokade (although there seemed to be nowhere to buy tickets for the return journey). Front desk staff were friendly and helpful. The room was clean and well-equipped. The only problem I encountered was a system error relating to add-ons to the booking. Shortly before the stay I received a message offering a range of extras and chose the buffet breakfast but this request was not registered and I had to re-book breakfast on arrival with the help of the front desk staff. Around 10 hours after I checked out I received a further message stating " Breakfast Buffet is not available in the chosen set-up "."
