Bathroom was mouldy and stunk of damp

The hotel is in need of investment and refurbishment. The carpets in the public areas and bedrooms need to be replaced urgently. The furniture and bathrooms in the bedrooms need to be updated. The heating in our room did not work but we were supplied with a mobile electric heater.

We really enjoyed our stay. The location is perfect, just far enough away on the Royal Mile to avoid the tourist congestion and noise but still extremely close to the main area. The room was a great size with plenty of space to move around and not feel confined like in other tiny hotel rooms that are more expensive. You have a kitchen, little table and sofa which no regular hotel room will provide so u can’t beat this place. We loved everything about our stay. The only thing I would have changed but had seen other reviews with the same issue, was the shower drain. It barely drained likely due to old plumbing so we had to limit the amount of water flow as we showered to avoid from having the base overflow onto the bathroom floor. We didn’t complain to the front desk, we just dealt with it because the rest was great. We would gladly stay here every and anytime we’re in Edinburgh and highly recommend it to others.
