Safe place, sweet people, great breakfast, awesome overall

Spanish speaking only, but they worked very well to understand us! I really appreciated the food package they gave us on leaving. It helped us get through the airport hassle.

It was a great boutique hotel with friendly staff and a wonderful breakfast included. It was very close to all the sights in Quito.

Our first night was a bit rocky — our room was in the Historic area of the hotel, close to the road, and we could hear a neighboring dog barking. The next morning at breakfast, we only saw coffee, toast, cereal, and fruit, so we thought that was all that was available. After we started eating, a staff member arrived and took our order — and we ended up having a delicious hot breakfast. We really enjoyed exploring the beautiful property. It was quiet, peaceful, and full of birdlife, which made for a lovely experience. We noticed a few empty rooms and asked reception if we could move due to the noise, and the staff responded quickly and kindly accommodated our request. The rest of our stay was excellent — we had a wonderful dinner and breakfast the next day. Overall, a relaxing stay in a beautiful setting. We would recommend this property.

We arrived late at night, actually it was more like early morning. Rio Amazonas is one of the few hotels that will let you check in that late. Check in was swift and we got a broom with a magnificent view over the city and Cotopaxi. The room was clean, the beds comfortable and the bathroom brand new and beautiful. Breakfast is fabulous and the staff is very friendly. Not sure about the neighborhood yet, but it looks fine.
