Grangemouth Vacations from $1,890

We stayed at Heeton in Fall '22 under previous name/owner. Unfortunately, I doubt I will stay again given price to service/quality. PLUSES: 1-bedroom is nice for separate sleeping space. Main room has comfortable sofa, large desk,+ kitchenette. W/D tucked awkwardly in hall closet but work (though I did have to rerun one load due to slow spinning despite choosing highest setting). Quieter, more residential area, easy walk to many of EDI's main sites. NEGATIVES: - I received NO housekeeping entire time despite 6-night stay (=$$$$$$). I know post-COVID many hotels do not offer service, but most do for stays 3+ nights. Consequently, I needed to fetch more towels, coffee pods, garbage bags and even empty my own garbage (!). Given price, I would expect a light room freshening midway. After 3 nights, I asked front desk if housekeeping could bring towels and empty garbage; I was told I needed to do this myself. - EDI is often cool, even in summer, but given Euro heat waves, I decided to pay extra to ensure a hotel w/AC just in case. Unfortunately, system is set such that if one chooses AC for night, it will automatically turn off 11pm, 2am, + 4am; instructions say "just turn it back on" (= disturbing sleep). - Shower grout was very dirty, sofa visibly stained in three places (EWWW), and hallway carpet dirty entire time (no daily vacuum?). - Arrived early due to internat'l flight + realize rooms rarely ready, but front desk didn't make any effort until I asked about 1pm check in.

This hotel is next door to Edinburgh Waverley station, so for us arriving via train it was perfect, however if the lower entrance is not open you will need your climbing legs as to reach it there is a set of about 60 steps to ascend or a walk round the block to avoid the stairs. It is a few steps from the Royal Mile so easy access to many of the attractions along there. The staff are really helpful and welcoming and as we arrived early they took our bags from us and placed them in our room when it was ready. The room was spacious and very clean, comfortable and incredibly quiet - we heard no street noise or from the wedding party that was there the night we arrived. The hotel has a small cinema attached which is in a wonderful art deco design with sumptuous seats and allows you to take in the drinks you buy at the bar there and you get a discount if staying at The Scotsman. Overall a wonderful stay and when visiting Edinburgh again we will be staying there.

I never checked in because our key cards did not work. Called the “hotel” about 20 times that night & no one responded. Spent 3 hours on the phone with Expedia & finally got a different hotel that was awesome! Do not book this place if you will have a late check in & by late I mean 8pm. It was ridiculous. To this day a week later no one from the hotel has contacted me.

Everything including the helpful staff were wonderful!
