The room clearly had not been cleaned, and there was no way that we were sleeping in the 2 beds that had stains, hair, other unknown pieces of debris on the sheets and the top bedding. We were very concerned about the possibility of bedbugs too based on what we saw. Tiles were broken in the washroom, there were broken doors with missing locks as we walked to our room, the whole entire hotel smelled like stale smoke. We ended up leaving after 20 minutes of checking in looking at the room. We also called ahead to confirm and they never told us about the room change. The bed comforters had burn holes all over them, tv did not work, as well as no hot water in the bathtub we did get. Staff does not stay on site overnight so we were unable to get back in to the hotel after letting the dogs out and had to call someone for a code to get back in. Some areas it’s smoke, others it’s mildew/mold. Inside our room the smell would not go away despite spraying deodorizers. The shower handle came off in our hand so we didn’t attempt using it. Good price if you need to be downtown Hamilton. Was hard to use with a very loose seat, was concerned I would slide off and get hurt. The tub had no safety bars, I had to be very carfull using it, espcially with no safety strips in the tub. Was very concerned of having a fall in the slippery tub. I expected to make a cup of tea, but nothing in my room, I was told to go across the street to Tim Hortons. Towels were brought to the room when we asked for some. Coffee maker in room but no coffee or cups. Hand print on bathroom wall above toilet. Shower faucet handle came off when I tried to turn on the shower. I was able to re attach it and proceed with my shower. Multiple stains on sheets and towels. Staff was great. Checked in at 3:30pm, expecting a ready room, since check in time is 3pm, but towels, shampoo, and conditioner were missing. Staff said they'd bring them 'soon' - took about half an hour brought them. The hallway smelled like cigarettes. Good for a short stay. The negative was that they only gave us one bath towel and one floor towel for two people. You also need to bring your own toiletries as there was no soap in the room at all, not even hand soap to wash your hands after using the bathroom. And we were only given 3 little packets of shampoo. There were two towels that were so grey they looked like someone somewhere had washed floors with them - and no face cloths. The halls looked as though they hadn't been cleaned for years. There was no mattress cover or bug cover on the beds. Some room doors had broken locks hanging off the doors. There was only one lightbulb in any of the lights. The bathroom did have a light. I guess that was a bright spot. Our room door was opened with a code entered into a panel on the door. We ended up leaving right after the function we attended and drove home the two and a half hours in the darkness. Had to phone staff to gain entrance. I had to.put a chair against the door and sleep in my clothes as I didn't trust the lock.
