This place is dishonest and not worthy of business. When a storm prevented travel due to the closure of ferry crossings I contacted the hotel and was told they would agree to cancel but I would need to get expedia to also cancel. I then booked another place not requiring a ferry. When expedia agreeded and contacted the Cross Inn they then refused so I was stuck with the bill. If they would have been honest up front I would have understood, but instead they lied. When I return to Lewis Harris I will avoid this place like the plague. Large offering of hot and cold items for breakfast. Dinner was grand: fresh food, well seasoned and huge portions. Ample parking onsite. Beautifully decorated. All little extras provided. Nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was excellent. We ate an evening meal in the pub which was also very good . It didn't disappoint. The room was quite simple, as expected when we booked, but the welcome from the staff was very good. We had dinner in the barn, good choice available and very well cooked and again, we had great service. The staff are fabulous; the food fabulous and the rooms are comfortable. Leave the Stornoway hotels to their over-priced quest to city type uniformity and be part of the Cross.
