This inn was gorgeous! Everything around the property is beautiful, the room was perfect with a big comfy bed and all the accommodations we could have needed! Close enough to the town and shops of Ithaca while still having privacy and quiet. Very, very happy with this property, we are already looking forward to another stay next year!
Feel like I discovered a hidden gem and can't wait to return. I totally enjoyed my stay.
There's an air of ease, comfort, and relaxation on the entire property.
Thank you John for being so welcoming and friendly.
Very unwelcome arrival…we parked and I took a few pictures of property. The owner came out as if we were trespassing and asked if he could help us. We said we were checking in and he looked puzzled and asked if we had just made the reservation. I said I made it 2 months ago and he was still confused. Then he asked if I made the reservation through Expedia and said sometimes those reservations don’t come through. He said our room was not prepared and sent us away for a coffee. We left for 2.5 hours and returned to find no one around, so we called the phone number in the foyer and he was picking up his kids and got there a few minutes later. He proceeded to take us up to our room and showed us in. We asked how the fireplace worked and he got on the floor and turned it on. He did offer a bottle of wine for the reservation confusion. Of note for any future guests, there is no hair dryer in the room, however the shampoo dispenser in the shower was completely empty anyhow. Overall, the property and room were very nice. However, the owner was not warm or welcoming at all. We felt like we were an imposition. Also of note, the sign shows that it is an Inn and restaurant. We saw no restaurant. We were under the impression this was a B&B, as that is what I googled when this Inn popped up. When I asked about breakfast, which we’ve always had in every B&B we’ve stayed in, he told us about 2 restaurants in town. Would I recommend? No, the Innkeeper’s welcome sets the tone for your stay.
We stayed at the John Joseph Inn for Cornell graduation. It was not far from campus and it was a great choice for accommodations! The staff at the John Joseph Inn were amazing! The property is beautiful and the rooms were clean and comfortable. The best part of the stay, however, was the seven course dinner on Saturday night. I cannot say enough about the food, atmosphere, and service. We will definitely return!
The property itself is very nice. My room had a giant tub and a fireplace and surrounding area is lovely. There are chickens on the property and they loved to gather by my door in the mornings. Only problem is the road. If you are traveling there in winter or early spring (I was there late march) be prepared for not ideal driving conditions. One of the nights when it started snowing heavily I couldn’t get back to the hotel after dinner. I had to turn around and get a room in Ithaca :(. In the dark the road is completely dark and with snow and wind it just wasn’t safe.
We had a confirmed reservation and when we arrived at the property the door was open however there was not a soul around and our calls to owners were not answered. We had to find another place to stay.DO NOT RESERVE AT THIS PROPERTY.
Booking through Travelocity. Booked the large Hamilton Suite with a pull out for myself, husband and twins.. Called ahead Friday evening (for Friday night stay) and was told Expedia made a mistake and booked different room. No garden view- instead on highway side. No pull out. Owner was nice and brought in full size mattress for floor. This would have been ok but room was terrible. Unbelievable noise through the night- sounded like HVAC system was next to us in bed. Room was super hot. King Mattress really needs to be replaced- large valley in middle. No literature in room re: wifi password, touring grounds etc.. Bathroom ceiling started leaking heavily from above while we were there. Called owner and he was surprised but this was clearly an old leak by cracks in ceiling pain. Coffee machine in room without creamer. We were looking for a nice place to rest our heads after a long day touring Cornell and none of us slept due to noise. It’s a baeatiful place, probably great for weddings but full service and quiet, it isn’t.
