If you're lucky, you can spot them running along the beach in the surf. When we went, the listing prominently featured a picture of a ping pong table. When there wasn't one there, we called the property manager and they declared that we are not to trust the pictures of the listing - only the text - and they promised to remove the misleading photo. Add to that the fact they didn't answer a single email I sent them. I had to call, and predictably they didn't really have an answer to my question since it was about feature of the property I wouldn't expect them to know off hand, which is why I emailed them - so they could research the question. The property itself was clean, but all we had to do was sweep the edges and corners to find the spots they missed. No nasty toilets or bathrooms and the exterior areas were all new and free of debris, but the ease with which we found cut corners doesn't inspire confidence in their cleaning process. Beyond that, the house was great! It had the best master bathroom I've ever had in a vacation home and it made good use of space - it features a large great room for the family to congregate in and it has some of the better views of the sound that you're likely to get. The outside of the property and deck furniture were proliferated with spider webs, spiders and bug dirt. Cleaning of inside was below average; sandy bathroom floors, significant dust on baseboards and wall hangings as well as cobwebs on ceiling lights and fans. No trashbags and no toilet paper. Not even 99-cent salt and pepper. The property has not been powerwashed in what looks like years with an infestation of spiders and roaches, making all of the decks and inhospitable. The master bedroom was nice, but the rest of the rooms were very grungy. Instead of replacing low-cost items, like blinds and coffee maker, there was just letters from the owners about not using broken features of those items. The house also wasn't cleaned very well. Caked in black mold and dust on the headboards. The sliding glass doorslide was caked in with dead bugs that it was black with bodies. We had to go back to the office to specifically ask for our pool code and parking pass and the code ended up being wrong, so it was kind of a waste. It's on a little rise, so you have great views of the sound and the ocean. Sadly we had some bad weather on our trip, so we availed ourselves to the great selection of board games and TV streaming services. Little community pool was clean and great for the kids. Easy walk to beach and lots of beach equipment available in the storage room. Nice restaurant right on the corner. House itself was clean and well stocked. (Watch out for the midges (tiny flying bugs I never heard of until last week)! They swarmed us one night....yuck).
