My room was clean, spacious and comfortable, hot and cold water. The staff were super friendly and accommodating. The chef prepared be a delicious Sri Lankan breakfast. I ran barefoot to the beach every day, it was that convenient. I enjoyed my stay; looking forward to coming back.

Everything about Tropic Inn is a beautiful experience itself. Every single staff went over and beyond to make our stay memorable .Gave us a home to home feeling. We will definitely return back and going forward will recommend it our family and friends.

2/5 staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Others are either aloof or chronically absent. Can't find the chef/someone to make lunch or dinner. Breakfast is just as bland as most hotels in the district. Good, modern design! Best looking accommodations in the area for the price. Room was clean and comfy BUT no desk and chair. NO leaks in my room despite many storms. Extremely loud street noise all day and night; vehicles, people, audio slogans etc. Blasting! Sitting area has outlets nowhere that makes sense. Lastly tiny bugs all over the headboard and furniture. No repellent provided. No netting provided. Can of bug spray was provided. However, not one day without a bite or something crawling on me. Guest house is VERY easy to find but take away drivers can never find it, despite big signs and instructions. There are much worst accommodations in the area. Stay here. Pay triple at a 5 star. Or just don't come to Mount Lavinia.

They didnt want us there, and muttered distasteful things about my companion. Next the checkin "process" was do it yourself. The waiter was mostly interested in getting his breakfast order nailed down, before even giving me a room key. The room was supposed to have a king size mattress, but it had two single mattress with a seam in middle made for horribly uncomfortable sleep. There was NO view outside. There was some kind of machine or pump that ran all night next to room. Islamasized so no contimental breaky with bacon. They do display favour for caucasian guests and disdain for brown. Terrible experience.

Det var många små myror i rummet. Jag beställde en klubb sandwich när jag kom på kvällen. Det var en kopp med söt ketchup till sandwichen. Efter ca en timme när jag skulle gå till sängs var koppen översollad av små myror. Satte tallriken med koppen i duschen och spolade ner myrorna varefter det versta var borta. Eftersom jag inte är så känslig för smådjur så var det inget jag klagade över. Personalen var tillmötesgående och trevlig, fick ha kvar rummet till 1:30 pm och därefter förvara mitt bagage i receptionen till 4:00 pm.

Das Zimmer ist schon sehr abgewohnt, das Badfenster konnte nicht geschlossen werden. Statt eines Abflusses im Duschbereich war nur ein großes Loch in der Ecke. Die Balkontüre war im unteren Bereich morsch. Obwohl das Hotel in einer Seitenstraße lag, war es morgens sehr laut, weil alle Eltern ihre Kinder mit Tuk-Tuk, Moped oder Auto zur Schule gebracht haben.

Good for a short stay

A lovely hotel when there was electricity, the hottest place on Earth when there wasn't (20% of our stay). Rooms were basic but well kept. Staff were extremely pleasant and helpful. We only dined here for breakfast on one occasion as it wasn't up to the same standard as the cheap eateries along the beach. Would stay again.

Conveniently located but ill informed

Stay was bad..in spite of having documentary proof of booking the accomodation with complementary breakfast, the hotel people did'nt provide breakfast. They has written the same on the booking form. It seems as the information comes to them from hotels.com through expedia, they are not even aware of hotels.com. This is general info all hotels informed. Further, while the confirmation to the customer contains the facilities offered, the booking confirmation document does not contain these things. Also the least preferred room was allotted inspite of advance booking. Looks that hotels.com customers get least preference compared to direct or those booked directly on hotel website.
