Allowed early check in — wife was ill

The front desk is open all the time and we were greeted when we checked in at night by an incredibly friendly employee. The rooms were really great, with enough room for two couples to comfortably stay. We had a room on the end, which I appreciated because the new restaurants at the end have not opened yet, so it was relatively quiet. The rooms looked really nice and after our second day there, a housekeeper replaced all our sheets and towels. It felt very clean. You can't beat the location on top of shops and restaurants. The one drawback is that the beach is a dry beach - you can't lay out on a towel or sunbathe and you can't get into the ocean from their dry beach. It's really a bar area open to the public that happens to have sand. Similarly, the pool is on a public trail and beside the public parking lot. It had a chain link fence, so it didn't feel at all private or relaxing. It was just a pool in the middle of a lot of people walking by. But again, can't beat the location if you want to be in the middle of shops and restaurants.

Unfortunately we had the unpleasant experience of staying at the Captiva Tower. So, no the pool was not enjoyable because of the sewer smell coming from the parking lot. I spoke to management and they did apologize for the lack of service, amenities and cleanliness of Captiva Tower and did refund some of our money. So, staff are great at the front desk.
