"This is a very local non touristy village. We enjoyed the hospitality (even if we couldn’t communicate)
The owner helped accomadate my sea food allergy. We really liked the hot bath available in the beautiful water. The only thing I would say is that it isn’t close to anything and you have to walk about 22 minutes to the train "

THE HOTEL HIGASHIYAMA KYOTO TOKYU, A Pan Pacific Hotel
10/10 Excellent
"The rooms are spacious by Japanese standards. The beds are very comfortable and the shower is excellent. The TV is equipped with Netflix and other streaming services and easy to use. The location is superb for exploring Gion and Higashiyama, and not far from a metro station to get to the rest of town.
The free shuttle service to and from Kyoto Station is a nice bonus.
The one negative is that the gym is quite small, with only a few free weights and a treadmill. If that matters to you, consider a guest membership at a nearby local gym or a different hotel. "
"Great location on a quiet street close to public transit and shopping / dining areas. Rooms are a larger Japanese size but spotlessly clean and thoughtfully designed, with comfortable beds and pillows and fantastic spa shower. Helpful and friendly staff. Nice touch with free eco-friendly amenities. The hotel has a cool vibe -- the sort of place where you wouldn't mind hanging out in the lounge. Great choice for couples and solo travelers."
