Overall, the experience was good, understanding that it sits comfortably at a solid 7 out of 10. The staff truly stands out: attentive, proactive, and respectful, without the uncomfortable pressure for tips that you sometimes encounter elsewhere. Our family room, which included two bedrooms and two bathrooms, was spacious and clean. Housekeeping came daily and consistently did an excellent job. It’s important to note that this is not a RIU top-tier property. The hotel facilities have seen better days. While everything functions as expected, some areas feel worn and could benefit from updates. Food is abundant but not exceptional. Among the dining options, the steakhouse restaurants offered the best quality and were the most enjoyable; Olé was our favorite among the walk-ins. One positive detail worth mentioning is the free transportation between this hotel and the Riu Palace Bavaro. Visiting the Palace Bavaro gave a clear sense of the RIU quality level we were originally expecting, which helps put this property into context. The hotel offers a good variety of activities and a clear separation of atmospheres. There is a lively area near the main pools and beach for guests seeking a more energetic vibe, and a quieter section on the opposite end for those who prefer a calmer experience. Room was good, clean and well stocked. Food was good but not nearly enough options for allergen issues, egg free options VERY MINIMAL. Nightly entertainment was ok but would like an actual performance or show something other than singers - singing. Resort itself is smaller but mostly well kept. Staff are very friendly. Had a couple days with power failures for the entire resort but impact was minimal.

Les couloirs sentaient le vieux et la chambre etait correct. Le site et les piscines etaient très conviviales donnant accès à la merveilleuse plage. Le personnel est très attachant.

This was the worst trip I ever took in my life it was my birthday I cried the whole trip the first day I waited on my black car to show up there was never a black car I got in a truck that was regularly that broke down on the highway second of all I get to my room the room had a leak from the ceiling the walls was wet the floors was wet they changed the room the second room someone had been sleeping in the bed the room was dirty the third room there was cockroaches on the wall the room was filthy the food was nasty it was the worst birthday trip ever took in my whole entire life my whole trip was a disaster

Room was nice . Had a few really good staff member's that I really enjoyed junior , and Duonis . Food was alright. Breakfast was always out when i showed up early . No seats 3 mornings in a row, waitress was super rude to me when I was directed by another waitress to an open table she made me get up and goto a dirty table . So i ate in my room a couple mornings. The buffet was okay but some of the food was tasteless , not seasoned. Spanish food was the only food that stood out as being very good. Ocean spot was really nice . Not much of a drinker but seems the high light for this hotel is everyone getting drunk all the time .

Decent room, nice bathroom. More of a party vibe than we were looking for but the beach has a lot of room and chairs as well as palm trees if you're looking for more low key vacation time.

We picked Riu Republica by mistake when booking intending to go with our regular RIU Palace when we visit countries but decided to stick with it just to see how it was. The hotel aesthetics was cute and similar to Riu Palace, however the customer service was very subpar. Upon arriving I have no washcloths and after requesting washcloths to wash it took over 2 hours, I even went to customer service to ask if they can just give me some because I didn’t need anyone to bring it to the room but I unfortunately couldn’t get any and had to wait to someone finally make it to the room. All the 3 to 4 ice machines in the building i stayed in was not in order and when I asked where should I get ice from I was told to go to the bar which was a walk from my room and building. On the second day my hot/warm water stop working and took hours to come back on. Some restaurant staff were very rude and not welcoming especially American country which is the one of the only places open the latest to get something to eat from and due to no room service available on the resort you try to atleast make it there to grab a bite if you been out all day doing excursions and enjoying DR but be prepared to be met with attitude and if you are of a certain demographic your experience is definitely different. Would I visit DR again?,yes but I would not go with RIU Republica again.

From the moment I got there everything was terrible . My friends ceiling was leaking in her room she reported it and all they did was wipe the floor, ceiling was not fixed at all. Then I go to my room only to find out my door doesn’t lock, I report it and it takes them a day and a half to fix my lock so in that time I wasn’t staying in my room I was sleeping in my friends room. When I finally go to my room since the lock is fixed the shower doesn’t work. I try to call the front desk and no one answers I called multiple days multiple times no one would answer . So anyways I report my shower doesn’t work they keep saying someone going to fix it mind you this is only day two NO ONE CAME TO FIX MY SHOWER UNTIL SUNDAY AFTERNOON / NIGHT BETWEEN 2pm -7pm . So after multiple days of reporting to the front desk , calling front desk they get it the shower fixed only the night before I leave which is completely ridiculous. Paid to much money to have a door that doesn’t lock and no shower . Some of the staff was rude and not well informed. Rooms weren’t super clean like you can tell housekeeping don be wanting to clean up every room good . Other guest said they were checked into a room with dirty sheets , mold , no sheets on the bed at all . For this place to be so expensive it should have better quality rooms , better quality liquor! Cause that liquor was cheap too ! Sheets on the bed made thin even though they got the rooms super cold. Honestly I’d give this place a 0/5 if I could .

Staff is very prejudice towards Black women. Too many encounters of staff not serving us drinks when seated at the buffet, bartenders were also taking other peoples orders over us. Hotel was dirty, bathroom had black mold, ac did not work, phones in the room did not work, even after room change, elevators did not work and guest had to use stairs to 4th floor rooms. Had to go to the lobby to request towels and bell boy service and no one ever showed up! There were roaches in the main bar area next to the pink lobby. The Steakhouse reservation system is a joke, no one can ever make a reservation to be seated even when showing up after 5:30p each day. The events and things to do on the resort was nice, but I’d never stay here or recommend anyone to stay here. I will be sending further complaints to corporate regarding my horrible experience.

The room’s air conditioning did not work. The property dismissed and minimized the issue, repeatedly deflecting responsibility and offering no meaningful assistance. This resulted in an uncomfortable stay that should have been easily avoidable. Beyond the AC failure, the room quality itself was poor. The space smelled strongly of mildew, the showers were worn down, and the overall condition felt neglected. Cleanliness, maintenance, and upkeep were well below acceptable standards. A rating of 5/10 is generous. The only positive aspect of the stay was the restaurant staff, who were 10/10 — professional, attentive, and genuinely kind. The lack of accountability and basic customer service regarding the room conditions made the experience unacceptable. This property is not recommended.

My overall experience with this resort was not the best. Once i arrived and checked into the resort, there was not much help provided with locating my room. A map was given out with number but that was no help. The staff didnt know either, and by it being one of the biggest reports i expected a better customer service experience. My room had bugs(roaches) in it. The food at the snack bar never stayed refreshed. The sandwiches and hamburgers provided was hard, the chips was stale and the cheese was dried out for the chips, and the food was cold. The restaurants close at 10 and nothing else is open except the snack bar which was not welcoming. This resort is okay, but i would not return for a 2nd time.

Great staff made the trip worth while and also affordability. We had to repeatedly ask for our rooms to be cleaned and the food was below average even the at the specialty restaurants. We slipped multiple meals because we felt sick after. The Italian place was by far the best dining service we had. Night life (Pacha) needed more variety in terms of music selection but they hosted a beach party that was lovely. Again, the place is decent for the price.

1st night no air. Asked 3 times for it to be fixed. Staff didnt seem to care.phone didnt work in room so had to keep walking up fro.t with issues. Mosquitoes in room. Resort had nothing tk.tey and fight off Mosquitoes. Couple fightj g next.dooe kicking in theie door, banging on walls. Couldnt call security cuz phone didnt work. Staff said domt worey about phone use app.app wouldnt let u put in request at night.couldnt find tv remote. The next day room was finally changed air worked but key vontinued ro deactivate about 3 times. Had to keep going to front desk for new key. Food was.t tne best at buffer. Rice hard feom being under heat lamp to long. Resort was fun to party thats it.
