“This is not a luxury house. Cheap second hand uncomfortable furniture, a smelly oven that may not have been cleaned for years (if ever???) and crockery that we needed to wash before we used it. We are not fussy people, but clean and comfortable should be a bare minimum.... Worst of all though was a chirping smoke alarm on the first floor landing, indicating a dead battery. On closer inspection, there wasn't even a battery fitted!! I offered to replace it if the owner couldn't arrange it for……

“Overall, we had an okay stay, but I feel the property was overpriced for what it offered. The location was convenient, around a 30-minute walk or 25-minute bus journey into York city centre. Having on-site parking was a real bonus, as was the nearby supermarket. We also appreciated the baby gate on the stairs, and our children loved sleeping in the bunk beds. However, there were several issues that affected our stay. The property is advertised as a two-bedroom apartment, but in reality it has……

“Room was 5 star. Amenities fantastic. Great hosts. Quiet, spacious. Abundance of Tea, coffee, water, shower gel etc. Best stay ever. Will definately visit again. ”

“The bungalow is up for sale and it felt like they weren't really bothered about maintenance. Garden covered in weeds, cooker and shower dirty. Had to get cups replaced as all cracked and stained, shower mat replaced as it was brown with dirt. 29degrees but could only open bathroom window and little lounge window. Whole place needs a deep clean and furniture updating”

“The location was excellent with easy access to restaurants and public transport into Leeds / harrogate if needed. The furnishing in the apartment is a little sparse, working hours would have benefited from a dining table. But if you’re planning to be out and about all day this is a great place to stay. ”

“Great location for going into town. Parking around the corner …no A/c as looked like it just opened. Overall very good place to stay when in York! One piece of advice fans for their guests.”

“Great comms from Martin. Choice of cereals plus pint of fresh milk in fridge. Handy location for city centre and Headingley. Simple key retrieval from combination lock safe. Comfy bed. Nice big TV. Small but functional bathroom. Good value for money.”
