Siwa could be Egypt's best kept secret. If you are in Egypt and are not on a schedule, add this stop to your travels and you won't be disappointed. It is located about an hour east of the border of Libya, it is about an 8 hour drive from Cairo to Siwa. The mud houses fill the main part of Siwa and have existed there for hundreds of years. It only rains a couple times a year, which is how these buildings still exist, though they are no longer used. There are many cool things to check out in Siwa: - jump in one or several refreshing springs to cool down with (Cleopatra springs recommended) - float in thigh deep waters at Siwa Lake (aka Salt Lake); this lake may be just as salty if not saltier than the Dead Sea. Be careful walking on the rocks/sand as the salt may give you tons of tiny laceration that you don't notice till later. There's an island in the middle of the lake that you can walk to since the entire lake is very shallow (about knee to thigh deep depending if you break through the crusty sand surface, very difficult walking but entertaining). - try sandboarding in the Sahara Desert - Spend a night at a Bedoin Camp, very authentic - bikeride around town - or just enjoy the laidback atmosphere of the town Truly a one-of-a-kind town.

Excellent accommodation. Clean and well furnished rooms with spectacular views of the beach, sea and Alamein towers. We enjoyed having Breakfast at the turquoise restaurant which had a lovely variety of food and very good services and great views.

Disaster from 1st moment
İ choosed the more expensive house form both were available on the page, after that i texted the company responsible for renting and they told me this isnt the apartment you choosed. And here started the story, different apartment, promised wifi not available, no ironing machine, no cleaning done ...

We just came back from a 4 day stay at Seven Seasons at the end of May 2024. El Alamein is an hour away from Alexandria, which wasn’t something we hadn’t fully realised until we got there. Also, it was not peak season so many things were not fully operating, like the Aqua Park. The apartment we stayed ...
