Where scorched orange desert meets the azure blue of the Caribbean ocean. Cabo village feels extremely remote, surrounded by baron landscape. From here there is the option to shell out a little extra to visit the giant rolling sand dunes of Punta Gallinas. Pilon de Azucar provides a 360 degree lookout point and this incredible beach. HOW TO GET THERE: From Santa Marta take a bus from the Terminal De Transporte to Riohacha (3hr). A taxi from Riohacha to Uribia (1hr). Finally jump in a colectivo to Cabo Del La Vela (1hr bumpy 4x4 ride). Rough cost 55,000COP. To reach Pilon de Azucar (featured) just grab a cheap moto taxi from Cabo town. WHERE TO STAY: Riohacha - To break up the journey check into Hammocks Hostel. Cabo Del La Vela - Hammocks line the beach.
