“The Utopia River Retreat was just what we needed after 3 nights camping out in Big Bend. The cabin we stayed in (Kickapoo) was very clean and well stocked with everything we needed (cooking utensils, bath towels, linens). The grounds were peaceful and scenic and had a nice swimming pool and volleyball net as well as riverfront access. At this time the river on the property didn't look great for swimming (no deep spits, tree branches, etc), but if you want to swim, Utopia City Park has a deep……

“The cabin is in need of repair. High speed internet was not true we could never get anything on the Dish tv to work The cooker was rusted, grill didn’t fit. The furniture on the back porch was rusted so we set in camper chairs we bought. The front door deadbolt didn’t work. Both porches Need major upgrade When we opened the back door a bucket of cigarettes butts greeted us. The grounds were filled with stickers and most grass dead. The cabin had crickets and grasshoppers and spiders. For the……

“Communication was great we had concerns about the river flooding. Our host was quick to communicate and advise us everything was safe to travel. Upon arrival the cabin first smelt so clean, second appeared clean as well. Wouldn’t recommend for more than 2 people. Bed was super comfy and the AC couldn’t have been more perfect. Was so frikin cold. Loved it. Went for a run Saturday morning during our stay the views were great. Highly recommend Happy Hollow, and Taqueria San Juan and Frio Coffee. We……

The river is not necessarily on the property but just across the highway that's in front. The river is very close though and very easily accessible. The host is very friendly and they even offer a discount on a variety of items at a local eatery!”
