Large, clean room with an amazing view. The staff were helpful. Beautiful pool, good location in the harbor. Great selection of fresh food at breakfast, but coffee was bitter, not tasty. The hotel is old, some cracks in walls and terraces, the many elevators are a maze, not all of them worked. We needed to take stairs to the elevators, or take an elevator to change to another elevator. Take maintenance staff starts work early, they work hard, but they also woke us up after 8:30am to fix an issue in the room, on another day there were construction notices at 8am above our room. The AC can be lowered only to 18C, it stopped working on one of the days for a few hours. The reception did not have a cart to put our luggage on to take to the room, all needed to be carried. No AC in the hallways.

This was our 3rd visit to the Pergola. Love the location away from the main road and the view from the hotel across to the church and Gozo in the background is amazing. We had breakfast included and the choice was excellent. The hotel is part of a group called G3 and we have eaten at several of their restaurants and the standard is also excellent. Won’t be our last visit either.

On arrival at the property we were very dissapointed that it was not as advertised a beach front property (about a 300 metre walk down a busy road). When shown to our room we were walked down what I can only describe as a very smelly corridor. Fortunately it could be avoided by using an alternative lift further down the hotel ground floor. The room was very clean, no issues at all, the view was fair, into an inner garden courtyard. On the first night some strange noises started at about 4:30 in the morning BOOM....BOOM....BOOM every few minutes. As soon as you dropped back off to sleep it woke you up again. Then sometime between 5:30 and 6:30 furniture was being pulled across the floor above, screeching as it was being moved. Reception, said to return at 5pm to look at an alternative solution. The alternative rooms were much further along the corridor, but the room was inferior. So we said we would try one more night in the same room...But it was de ja vue. In fairness to the staff, they checked in with us at breakfast and agreed to move us to better accommodation on a higher floor later that day. The rooms were far better and the next 5 nights were much quieter. Unfortunately on the last three nights the hotel got busier and guests returning back to their rooms in the early hours were incredibly noisy and the doors were very noisy banging shut. We expected much better from a 5 star hotel, which advertised "sound proof rooms". The staff in fairness were very helpful.

The staff were outstanding! They were professional and very responsive. The property is in an excellent location with 6 restaurants on site, options for day trips and some great pool spaces + access to the sea. The rooms were comfortable, with a nice balcony, and we did the breakfast included. (The pillows are awful!!!) The downside, a HUGE construction project happening adjacent to the hotel. We stayed 5 nights, and the first three night we were awoken by what sounded like furniture moving from 12am-3am or 4am. Finally the fourth night it settled. Overall we really enjoyed our stay.

Just had a lovely 8 night stay. The good: The pool was a lovely area and a great temperature. We always got sunbeds and there was a fair amount of shade. The food and drinks were good as was the service. Breakfast was great - we went down in the advertised ‘busy time’ and always got a table and it never seemed too busy. The omelette and egg station was very good and there was always a good amount of smoked salmon. Bar service in the Harbour View was also great. The decor was classic and internally I felt it was grand but relaxing. Rooms were big - as was our balcony. The housekeeping team did a super job. Lovely location on the Harbour with great views. I’d prepared myself for the infamous steps and they really weren’t that bad!! Always walked in - never considered the shuttle. The not so good: Only one person at check in and we watched the people served before us given welcome drinks as they were being served. We were very thirsty and expected the same but drinks were never offered to us and then when we left the desk I saw the next people queuing behind us had drinks! The exterior of the building does look a little tired but I understand there is a refurb starting in Feb 2027 for 18 months and it didn’t detract from our stay. Overall I’d wholeheartedly recommend staying here 😁

Absolutely fantastic hotel, very clean and modern. Everything is excellent but nothing compares to the staff who are ALL amazing. The most friendly, helpful people you will meet, nothing is too much trouble. They definitely made our stay. The area is great whether you go towards the Spinola Area or the 20 minute walk to Sliema through the back streets which brings you out right near the ferry terminal. The Sundeck roof top pool is lovely and very clean. The only gripe is the people who put the complimentary towels on the loungers early in the morning and disappear till sometimes the afternoon. Very annoying and unfair. Counted 12 empty loungers one morning around 10am with only 4 people in the pool. Thankfully there is an adults only area upstairs that people don't rush to so we used that a few times. We didn't book breakfast as we prefer to try different places or wait till lunch. We did try once, the choices were excellent, lots of different foods on offer. It was quite expensive for the small amount we eat for breakfast so we didn't bother again. I would highly recommend this hotel for any kind of break for all travellers but didn't seem an awful lot for younger children other than swimming. The Sundeck pool was for 16 years and above but the lower pool was bigger and looked ok for children.

The hotel was clean and the room was spacious which I appreciated. However, it would have made a world of a difference to me if they provided and not charged for hotel slippers. These should be complimentary in a 4-star hotel. One other improvement point would be if they provided bottles of water as well with the room, given Maltese water is too salty to drink. These are low-cost amenities that would have made this stay 5 stars.
