An excellent hotel if you want to be away from the busy city and malls. Clean , safe and amazing if you want to connect with nature. If you are coming Panama to shop I would not recommend staying here because it’s not close to the malls and the old city, it is out of the way . 10 mins away from the Panama Canal and hotel offers free shuttle to some places. Breakfast was great and staff was friendly and rooms were great , I would definitely recommend.

Staying at Hotel Herrera in Casco Viejo was truly unforgettable-one of those rare experiences where everything just feels right from the moment you arrive. Nestled right in the heart of Plaza Herrera, the hotel’s beautifully restored colonial façade immediately drew me in, but it was the warm welcome from the staff that really set the tone for my stay.
My suite was a perfect blend of historic charm and modern comfort, with gorgeous handcrafted furniture, and a balcony that overlooked the lively Plaza Herrera below. Every detail, from the plush bedding to the luxurious marble bathroom, made it feel like a boutique retreat. I loved waking up to the sounds of the city and sipping coffee while watching the world go by from my private balcony.
The hotel’s location made it easy to explore the best of Casco Viejo on foot-charming cafes, art galleries, and vibrant nightlife were all just steps away. The staff went above and beyond, offering great recommendations and even arranging a guided tour to the Panama Canal and a day trip to the Emberá community, which was a highlight of my trip.
Dining at Hotel Herrera was another standout. I treated myself to a special dinner in THEcellar, their exclusive private dining room, and it was an experience I’ll never forget. The food was incredible, and the intimate setting made it feel truly special.
If you’re looking for a place that combines history, luxury, and genuine hospitality, I can’t recommend Hotel Herrera enough.

Beautiful lobby and rooms great friendly staff. Breakfast buffet was limited and not very good. Hotel room windows were very dirty. Pool is old needs renovated. Pool views weren’t great of old dirty buildings and apartments. Restaurant dinner food was terrible had to send back. Our suit didn’t have hot water for one day.

Pasamos un fin de semana, el personal es muy amable y todos están velando por la satisfacción del huesped. El lugar es hermoso, rodeado de naturaleza y tiene arte en cada rincón del hotel. La comida estuvo fabuloso y el desayuno incluido muy completo.
Tenían una pequeña sección gluten free.

Amazing time across the board staying at both the Treehouse and the Ocean Villa for the week. The attention to the details made this an experience like no other. The treehouse created a one-of-a-kind experience especially with the views and birds around the island. Highly recommend doing both. The service staff were extremely kind and attentive to all needs with a caring spirit of service. The housekeeping staff kept the places immaculate each day. The food quality was exceptional, especially at dinner each night in the Elephant House. The focus and creativity of each meal along with the unique presentation each night really made it special. The soups and main course served each night were absoutely the best we have ever experienced. Our conpliments to the chefs. A special thanks to the staff that made us feel very special and exhibited the gift of hospitality. Outstanding service really shined through Gilberto, Andrea, Mikeal, Franco, Ruby, Carlos, Victor, Liz, Williams, Sherill, and so many others! If you desire an intimate, unique resort experience that you will never forget, this is your place!

Absolutely stunning property. Serene and a great place to disconnect. Staff and owner were friendly and supportive. La Loma did a nice job accommodating dietary issues. I'd highly recommend a stay.
Tips for visitors:
Visitors should consider building in a contingency day in case an activity gets rained out.
One of our party had mobility issues. The family treetop I think would be a good choice. The stairs aren't as steep between the meal place and lodging. Hiking poles also helped with getting up and down the stairs to the dock.
I did the bat tour and bioluminescence tour through them, both super fun. I wore a rash guard top and swim pants for the bat tour and thought that was a good choice.
Suggestions for property:
Every meal is well done for the food that it is, but it would be a great to have a built in either/or choice for the meal so you don't feel like a burden if you'd prefer a different type of food.
The morning muffins are delicious. Consider giving each guest two :).
