Wonderful place to relax and be by the sea. The staff was always very helpful.

We had a fantastic 9 days here, exploring nearby Caiscais, Lisbon and the surrounding coastline by foot, bike and car while enjoying the superb Hotel Fortaleza. Alexandre, Vitor, Iris and Diogo made us feel so welcome on arrival and were always on hand to address queries. Similarly, the excellent bar and restaurant team (particularly Bruna, Pedro, Mariana, Rui, Daniela and many others, working both in front and behind the scenes) ensured we enjoyed truly excellent breakfasts and a superb selection of snacks, lunches and evening meals. Freshly prepared, nutritious food was abundant alongside a wide variety of breads, scones and pastries baked daily in-house. The view of the Atlantic Ocean and stunning Guincho and Cressima beaches (with all types of surfers) from the breakfast room was uniquely enjoyable as was retiring to the superb foyer day and night to enjoy a drink and beautiful surroundings. Our room was extremely comfortable (the biggest bed I might ever have slept in!) with a full range of complementary coffees, ports, cookies and similar treats. I loved that the hotel, while based on the site of an old fort, combines impressive architecture and furnishings with comfort and elegance - with the maintenance team do a superb job of daily upkeep. One of the best value holidays we've had where we could combine active days with luxurious, relaxing evenings. Anyone wants the convenience to be right at the beach; this hotel is it. Otherwise, its's nothing special. Count yourself lucky to get a room in the newer part of the hotel.
