Tigerlily Hotel has a great location, and main floor decorations fun and vibrant to the extreme! A few aspects continue to the rooms, which are quite pleasant, very clean and comfortable. Stocked room refrigerator items are available at added reasonable cost. Staff at check in very pleasant, and same for those in the restaurant. Breakfast at added cost. I had one dinner at the restaurant - delicious. It is quite the busy gathering place on weekend evenings!

Overall, I had a wonderful experience at Nira Caledonia.
The location is unbeatable if you're planning to see as much of the city as possible.
The rooms are beautiful and clean, with astonishing views, although the walls are a bit thin.
I would have given a five-star rating were it not for our, honestly, terrible experience dining at Blackwoods on the last night of our stay.
Four other travel companions and I made a reservation at Blackwoods for 7:15. Upon ordering drinks, bar snacks, and appetizers, we waited approximately 25 minutes for drinks to arrive. Not really a huge issue, but there are only 7(8?) tables in the entire restaurant. After we began to receive our drinks, our server informed us that, because of the current kitchen staffing, they would not be fulfilling our order for bar snacks. Odd, but ok.
We then proceeded to wait an hour for our appetizers.
Once we finished those and began to receive our entrees, all seemed well.
However, once we were 90% done eating, our server then informed us that the chef was "done for the night" and we would not be able to order dessert. Not once did the server come over and let us know that the kitchen was wrapping up service (completely fine!), and if we were interested in dessert, we should order soon. Nope - just a sorry, but you don't get dessert.
What a sour way to spend the last evening of our vacation.

Staff were very helpful. Room was very well appointed with fresh bottled water, snacks and coffee/tea daily. Great location for exploring the area on foot. Highly recommend and would stay there again.

Beautifully curated property. Rooms were spacious, really well equipped andci loved the little complimentary extras you could request as a pamper or for things you'd forgotten. Would recommend without hesitation and return when revisiting Edinburgh.

The assigned room did not match the photograph listed. The room was smaller. The building is off a main road and near the train station and so convenient. However, the room felt like a student accommodation.

Scotsman Hotel in Edinburgh. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel so welcome—especially Amelia, who went above and beyond to make our experience fantastic. Every staff member we met was kind and thoughtful. The breakfast was delicious, and the accommodations were incredibly comfortable—light, airy, beautifully decorated, and just perfect for relaxing. We genuinely felt at home, and it’s clear that the team cares about creating a special experience. I can’t wait to return, and I highly recommend it!
