Had a 3 night stay during a road trip through Germany and Austria. We only booked the Mercure as we were meeting elderly family in Salzburg who were staying there after a river cruise. Our flight got in very early morning so we arrived well in advance of check in time. Reception allowed us to leave our bags whilst we explored the city until our room was available. The room was very small, smaller than it appeared online. The furniture and room layout just didn’t work, and the decor was dated. Our room type included a complimentary mini bar which was replenished daily. There was also a coffee machine, safe and fridge. Strangely, there was no phone in the room, so when I had a question, I had to go down to reception to ask. No big deal, just very odd - especially in case of an emergency. Breakfast was not included and was pricey, so we opted to grab groceries from one of the many supermarkets in walking distance. Parking was also an additional charge of €20 per day. Ordinarily we would avoid a hotel that charges for parking, but in this case we did not have a choice. The bathroom was also small with a lack of counter space. The space between the toilet and wall was extremely tight, and I’m short. The location was in a residential area but only a 10/15 minute walk to the main city centre which was absolutely fine for us, but our elderly relatives struggled so did not venture far on foot. All in all our stay was ok, but I would not return to the Mercure.

The location was lovely, and most staff members were friendly, although the initial impression upon arrival was less so. The room, while functional, was on the smaller side. Given that we booked a more expensive room, it would have been beneficial to have had tea and coffee-making facilities available. And the option of pillows had run out and only smaller pillows were available, which states that's this is recommended for placing addition in room rooms.Breakfast beautiful and also good time scale to attend Please specify the loaction spot on and was great to relax in room and option of balcony . . Would return back to hotel , just feel a few recommendations could turn this hotel from good to excellent . Thanks

Boutiquehotel Amadeus was good, but not great. The biggest positive is the wonderful central location, and the rooms are quite large — the larger of our two rooms had plenty of space for a crib. However, the layout was strange: you entered directly into the first room, which was dominated by a very large bed, and then had to walk through that bedroom to reach the larger room. It was also very hot, even with two fans running. Breakfast was extremely basic — essentially yogurt and a few pastries — so we ended up skipping it each morning. The biggest issue for us was access and check-in, particularly for a family arriving by car on a longer road trip. We arrived after 8pm when there was no one at the front desk, which made check-in unnecessarily difficult. Cars cannot normally pull up to the hotel and the parking is a few blocks away, so my husband had to make multiple trips with all of our luggage and the kids. We had read in a review that it was possible to drive up to unload, but the desk agent was unable to get the street barriers to lower using his codes. This experience alone made us regret choosing the hotel. Ultimately, the excellent location and generous room size made the stay work, but I wouldn’t recommend it to friends traveling with children and luggage, primarily because of how difficult it was to check in and get our bags in and out.
