The staff were very welcoming. They even accommodated us for early check-in. The bed was comfortable, and the view was spectacular!

Great stay at the Guesthouse. Completely redone rooms, large with fridge and microwave. Our room had two balconies with a nice outlook. Access to all the clubs amenities, pool, fitness center, restaurant, tennis, pickleball, golf. Had great meals at the restaurant, very inviting atmosphere, very quiet as well.

The good: Hotel was nice. Unique vibe with the Margaritaville/jimmy buffet theme. Valet staff was very prompt and helpful. The Bad: Would expect something other than a tub shower for this price point. There is a club across the street called Bub’s. Mon-thur they have to shut music down by 10:00 so that is ok. On our last night on Friday the bass and music was so bad that on 7th floor it felt like the ground was shaking so not much sleep that night. They didn’t have to quiten down until 2:00am. If you stay there make them put you as far away from Bub’s as you can. Unless you are a partier and then it would be an easy walk to the bars. If you’re actually trying to get sleep get away from that side.

The property is conveniently located in central IB. And while other rooms looked like they would be comfortable our room was located across from where the garbage is dumped and the washer and dryer. I messaged the property manager right away and sent photos of the overflowing garbage. I asked to be moved to another room. They said that was not possible. They did say they would give me a 10% refund on my stay. They never honored this. This level of garbage certainly attracts rats. Who wants this right outside their door? I gave them feedback that this particular room should not be rented out as a guest room because of the garbage and noise from the washer and dryer running.

We had an amazing stay at The Sofia Hotel. We would recommend this property to anyone looking to stay near all the attractions in San Diego. Check in was quick and they even offer fresh flavored ice water at check in. We stayed on the 7th floor and loved the comfortable room with everything we needed to feel like royalty. My favorite touch was the make up towel and the filtered water dispenser. The towels were large enough to wrap a fuller body and the body wash and shampoo was a perfect choice for anyone. Would highly recommend a stay at The Sofia.
