Melrose Guest house is a beautiful place to stay in the Ambelside, Lakes National Park, and Windemere area. It is conveniently located in town by restaurants, ships, and trails. The room was spotless and comfortable. Breakfast was amazing every day of our stay. This is the place to stay in Ambelside!

Very well mainted hotel room with upgraded finishes throughout. It was a small room with only the countertop near the foot of the bed to put our bags. We moved the coffeepot and in room ameneties off the countertop so we could fit each of our suitcases. It was a tight fit. But the bed was comfortable and the room was quiet

Perfect stay! The inn is lovely and cozy owned by a wonderful couple who made me feel right at home. The breakfast was great and very reasonably priced. They even agreed to store my baggage for several days while I hiked in the region. Can’t recommend enough!!

Everything was great! We arrived late and John was very understanding to wait up on me. Breakfast was delicious - they even have vegan option. Location was literally perfect for a nice easy hike up Loughrigg Fell. Bonus - we even got a book from John and Megan! Thank you for being such wonderful hosts!

Wonderful hosts. Great breakfast. Updated modern bathroom. Clean comfortable bed room. Ambleside was great place to stay. So many good restaurants nearby. Laundry mat around corner. Short drive to all kinds of activities. I’ve never seen so many outdoor stores before! Really good stay!

Our late arrival was not a problem and throughout our stay the owners were very friendly and helpful. We were very comfortable there and it was a good location for visiting the various places we wanted to visit.

Room was clean and comfortable and well-located for strolling in town. Breakfast was also good with plenty of choices and staff were very friendly. No complaints!

Thus us the second time in the past five years that my family and I have booked a multi-day stay at the Three Shires Inn. This time, again, we were enormously pleased with our visit. The amenities, the food, the location, and particularly the staff were all first-rate. As was the weather, surprisingly. Only the traffic on the narrow roads was a challenge.

Nice hotel located in the middle of Grassmere. The room was clean, spacious with a great soaking tub and nice window views. There's a nice seating area downstairs that converts to a breakfast room in the morning. The breakfast was plentiful and tasty. The staff were all friendly and helpful with restaurant suggestions and things to do in the area.
