First off let me preface this by saying that you have to be open minded. Some foreigners want to go to a place and have it be just like home but in another country. If you are looking for a western style hotel that has a happening nightlife and tons of bars and people around, then this is not the place for you. The property itself was super spacious. The best part was using the whole building to our own. We didn’t get bothered from anyone, nor did we bother someone else. The Onsen was also very enjoyable. I would definitely come back here with my family again.

Shiosai no yado Seikai is an outstanding onsen/hotel in Beppu. From arrival to departure the staff, including Mr. Ohkubo, provided exceptional hospitality and service. Our room was upscale spacious, clean, modern and equipped with all the amenities that the most demanding guest would want. The furo/spa facilities were clean and well stocked with needed supplies. Fantastic stay. Huge beautiful rooms and the most attentive considerate staff.

From the very start the staff was very nice, even though we weren't the best tourists. We stayed a short time, and in that tike the staff was friendly, despite our Faux Pas and were willing to help us with arranging luggage forwarding. The room we booked was very clean and offered coffee, tea, and ice water in our rooms which we were free to use. Absolutely amazing stay. Loved the traditional Japanese styles they used and the in-room onsen was so cool! Definitely recommend to anyone looking for a great traditional Japanese luxury stay at an affordable price!

A really nice Japanese style Onsen Hotel with great staff and a warm atmosphere. Their traditional Japanese breakfast was amazing as was the family onsen. Just a short walk from the train station and super close to all the shopping and food stores on the Main Street.

The onsen was absolutely great, with beautiful view of Beppu. The room was very spacious and quiet. The hotel staff is overall friendly. Teppan dinner was great (though the Wagyu steak was a bit too greasy for me), and breakfast was also nice.
